parking

Featured Replies

where i go to uni, its a controlled zone. ie know where to park whatsoever and about £20 for a day, but a few roads back and it becomes free again. i obviously go for the free ones and take the hike, but down the free roads, theres countless amounts of cars trying to avoid the payment as well. basicly there is some stupid idiot who puts cones outside his/her house more or less everyday, so nobody can park there, and the only reason i wont move the cones, is just incase these people are disabled, but if they were they should get a designated spot! what would you do?!

if it were an issue about disability there would be a box outside the house with disabled.

also if it were legal to reserve the space there would be a permit holders only area.

just fuck them off - and risk getting your vehicle trashed LOL

knock on their door and ask if they're disabled LOL

You're a student, use your undergraduate skills and steal the roadcones.

I had a set of roadworks in my halls room during the first year. hahaha

Just drive over them

Exactly what I'd do haha

Put the cones on front of their door and park there.

Id kick your car to shit if you moved cones from outside my house

Just imagine how frustrating it must be not to be able to park outside your own fricken house, just because some tight fisted students dont want to pay for parking. I know we all pay road tax and should be able to park anywhere, but morals have to kick in somewhere. You only have to leave the car there, walk to uni, come back and drive home. They probs have to leave the house a few times a day, walking a marathon each time would piss them off

As walshc said.. look at it from their point of view...

you know what i mean its such a shitter, your right their are two sides to every story, and dont get me wrong i have thought maybe she does have small kids that she has to pick up and take to school and that is fair enough, but living in a built up area, as i do,we all know the problems of parking, i dont do that outside my house, and i never get a place outside mine! so why should they? theyve obv taken the issue into their own hands. hopefully tmoro i will see them and ask them for their reason, which i hope is legitamate!

Yeah i have a similar problem down my street, always get people parking down there n pissing of the the train station n leaving it there for the week,

Realy can get annoying, i dont bother with cones tho.

Is there no kind of public transport u can use?

IIRC its illegal to put cones out on a public road unless theres road works. My dad works for south wales police and he said hes picked many of cones up from outside peoples houses who put them there to protect their parking, he just picks them up and takes them to the station.

lol surely the best way to keep a space is by parking your car in it rather than leaving a few cones there...

Tough shit on their part I'm afraid. They'll just have to accept it. Some old idiot used to do it two doors away from my Dads house. The old cow came out of the house one day and said to my sister (who was getting her two under 5 children out of the car), "I know you come to see your Dad but cant you park in the town car park or something". In a roundabout way my sister said no. Some people think they own the street, tough shit, go and buy a house with a drive or something. Normally in my experience people who put cones out etc normally are getting on and dont have much of a life so let stuff bother them like someone else parking out side their house. I always move the cones, but then I never left the car there all day unattended. Its alright saying you'll do this that or the other if they touch your car but you've still the hassle and expense if they do do something. Putting cones out is illegal though, if they come out giving you any crap when you move them, just tell them that.

Park your car then put the cones around it.

 kam always speaks sense!
hopefully tmoro i will see them and ask them for their reason, which i hope is legitamate!

Why should they have to give you a reason to park outside their own fuckin house!?? Cheeky fucking students!

Because its a free road and not their private property?

the cones probally ended up there because people parked outside there all the time ?

i know how pissed off i get if i cant park outside my house, and if i did decide to place cones out and someone to move them and park there i wouldnt be too happy.

Yeah to be fair... i park on the drive and my dad parks half on the path in front of the house..

Our street is proper stuck up though, it's like an american suburb, and the house like 3 doors from me has 5 cars at the moment, and the house next to that has 3 or 4 depending...

So it is bloody annyoing when they stick their cars in front of everyone elses houses.. i know it's public right of way etc but it's a quiet cul-de-sac and there's something called common courtesy....
