sorry dude, but if u cant afford a bigger size engine then dont have one. its not worth getting in trouble over. i insured my mk3 GT at 17, cost me £1400 but was nice knowing i paid for it all myself.

would it be worth making my 1.0 faster then? just an idea

Well, ide say no but I suppose you could try? Even so, you would still need to declare what mods you do on your insurance, and tbh, at 17 it dont really happen from my experience! When I was 17 I enquired about coilovers and my premium wen up by a grand!!

Just tootle around in your 1.0 for a year or 2 mate! Get to know they roads proper and then look at getting something faster when you are 18/19 with NCB! 8-)

I'd agree, also if you cant insure a standard GT you sure as hell wont be able to insure a conversion as it's classed as a major modification, i expect some conversions are dearer to insure because of this, some companys will want an engineers report etc.

I'd wait till you are older and buy a nice GT.

I'm lucky i'm an old fart at 38
