Suspension: PP Coilovers

Brakes: Drilled and vented discs, G40 Brake calipers with Green stuff Pads and Goodrich braided brake hoses.

Wheels and Tyres: Image Splits HT (13x8 ET15/ 13x9 ET10)

Exterior Styling: Smoothed door handles, debadged grill, flush fuel cap

Interior Styling: Momo team 280 steering wheel, Rev gauge, stripped rear....

ICE and Security: Snap of kit.

Were it all started. 2 Years ago i brought it, and it was my first car :-D. I found it on auto trader

The Engine work

I started work on the engine last year. The car was originally a 1liter but i bought a 1.3liter from demolover of here that was originally in is old mk2 coupe. i rebuilt the top end and done a few bits to it, GT cam, Ported and polished head, lighted flywheel, GK inlet and a weber carb. Plans for it this summer are Newman cam and a four bunch.

The 1liter came out so i could start work on the bay and fit the new engine.

In go's the new engine.

Thats it for now but will update soon again.

Stripping, cleaning, smoothing and painting the bay took about 3 weeks i could of done it in a week but i was taking my time.

I dont think it will be quick till i get that four bunch on but will see, I'm hoping for 85bhp with the modds iv done including the 4 bunch.

Just a littile update, iv finaly finnished the pluming just need to wire up the fuel pump then away we go :-)

The rocket cover has started to rust so I'm going to get it sorted. carnt wait to get the 4 bunch i think it will finnish of the engine nicely.

maybe i have gone over the top with the red . changing the colour of the rocket cover might split the colours up abit will see, thanks anyway mate.

Great work loving the red and black, you should try and get an alloy cam cover like mine found on earlier mk2's although the red paint on mine has started to crack, I reckon it needs needs manifold paint.

I don't see the main breather pipe going to your catch tank just the small breather pipe? I'm also a bit confused where your fuel pipe and return are plumbed but I'm sure it's just a bit different. the vac hose not in use should be blocked off if you have the one at the side going to the dizzy. Gaz on here reckons the front vac hose should go to the dizzy and the one at the side should be blocked. I've not had a chance to try it like that.

Very interested in how you get on with this as I have a similar set up but without the porting/flywheel/cam :( . This thread of herrods has been excellent for weber twin choke issues..

I've had another think about this the one that needs to be blocked would normally serve the warm air flap/vacuum switch on the airbox. Since you don't have one of these you can block it. :) I've still to confirm which one should go to the dizzy. I'm using the car tonight so will have a look then.

haha , well i think it looks good , and yeh i think a chrome rocker cover would look good , break up the red a bit . you got any pics of the whole car now ? would be cool to see the imporvements from the autotrader pics :)

Thanks mate. The main breather pipe thats the one on top of the rocket cover (i think) i was just going to wack a breather filter on it the reason i haven't plumbed it to the catch tank is becouse the catch tank will need a breather filter to with the crackcase ventilation hose connect to it. i could be wrong as maybe it will be fine with both the crackcase and breather pipe connect to the catch tank. when i plumped up the fuel lines to the swirl pot i was just going of pictures of here, thanks for the links i I'm going to check that everything is plumbed up right. I have blocked of the vacume hose dont worry :-) .

This is the first time iv done anything like this so it might not start first time becouse I've missed something, i will keep you guys posted anyway. thanks for you input :-D
