Hey guys and gals, I'm a club polo virgin, so thought id introduce myself abit in this thread also. I recently bought my polo from another member from this site. I dont plan to do much to the polo, apart from getting a few panels resprayed here and there.

I'm not up to speed much on my polo's as i owned an 89 Mk1 Cabriolet Before the polo, as far as I'm aware this is a 6N polo with a 1600 engine, but I'm not too sure on what that even means, so if anyone could brush up my knowledge abit i would be very appreciative :).

Basically it's a 1.6 8 valve multi-point injection, 6n polo.

Roughly around the 1997 model if i'm not mistaken.

You're running the 16 valve 1.4 polo 6n front and rear bumpers, not the mk5.

Rear lights off a 6n2 which is the model up from yours and it's a pretty tasty car might I add.

yeah they do look very similar, I'm guessing your over the water otherwise would of made for an awersome photo shoot once i got my paint tidied up. :)

What wax/polish finishing product are you using on your paint to get that shine?

Also what does 6n and 6n2 mean or stand for?

yea over in scotland. I'm using autoglem, got like a big pack of things with all the different stuff needed.

a 6n is the same our's and a 6n2 is the facelift model (mk 5)

if I'm ever in scotland ill give you a shout :p .

btw 6n and 6n2 refer to the model and chassis (i believe) the 6n was 94 - 99 while the 6n2 was 2000 -2002 (i think)

the 6n is commonly referred to as the mk4 (though in truth its the mk3 :-D but that gets all complicated) lol

Shame all white polos dont look that good i really love the white polos >.<

right so mine falls into the mk3 f - face lift category? but most people seem to refer to it as a mk4? what!?!?!

Also was there a change in production with these polo's in 1998? Because i previously had to get a manifold and we got one from a 97 model but it was the wrong one because it was made by Bosch in 1997 but magnelli in 1998. The car is in getting a new water pump atm and the mechanic has been sent out the wrong pump twice by two different companies?

Whats the deal with that?
