Breaking Eaton Charged G40!

Due to a pretty bad engine failure I'm breaking my GT/G40.

I'll start with the engine as that is what you'll all be interested in. The cambelt snapped (quite randomly) and I've ended up with 4 damaged pistons, 8 bent valves, etc. I can't justify putting any more money into car and engine, and the shell isn't up to the job of putting 200+bhp down so I'm moving on to another Polo project :)

I am still trying to sell the engine, it is salvageable with a top end rebuild and new pistons. It would make a decent base for a big BHP engine you could build along side your normal engine, or rebuild it to standard spec. Four pistons and 8 valves from TPS are £525 +VAT. The only modification to the engine is a Schrick cam and a Superchip.

The ATV gearbox was rebuilt recently (less than 20k ago) and not long after an Exedy clutch was fitted. It hasn't had too much of a hard life, as since July 2008 the car has only done about 3000 miles, and two runs down Santa Pod with low RPM launches :-)

The Eaton M45 charger is a Generation 4 charger (with Teflon blades) and the conversion kit is the AW Tracksport kit. I had this fitted back in March to a total cost of £950

The kit does need modifying slightly, in my opinion, although plenty of people have used it without issues. It needs another tensior adding which would cost a few quid, nothing excessive.

Right... prices.

Engine, box, clutch, loom, clocks, ECU. Everything required to convert your car to G40 power minus a supercharger, manifold and radiator. £400 I may have sold the manifold and radiator, but if not I will throw these in for that price too.

Eaton M45 Supercharger and AWT conversion kit (+ brand new belt) - £350

PhilJ suspension kit - £80 (but YOU remove original kit and replace with your suspension, so the car can still roll about)

G40 front brake setup, Mintex pads - £50

14" P-Slots, refurbed in Antracite, with centre caps, in perfect condition. 2x Toyo Proxes tyres need replacing £200

Corrado cloth front seats with bases modified to fit in a Mk3 Polo, which still slide nicely! Drivers bolster is a little tired but still in good condition. Pair - £150

G40 rear bench - £30

G40 supercharger, in bits, needs a rebuild as oil seals popped, standard spec - £80

14" P-Slots, standard silver, Pirelli centre caps, 3 new tyres, one has a slow puncture. - £100

G60 'Green' injectors, fuel rail and regulator - £50

Any more parts you require gimme a shout. I would rather not split any more of the engine components. I am located about 15 mins South East of Middlesbrough. Cash on collection for bulky items! Smaller items will be a price PLUS p+p.

I do NOT have the following parts - GT Arches and Skirts, GT rear lights, clear indicators and repeators

Hiya matey, I'm after the inline fuel pump that sits behind the drivers side rear wheel please.

How much for it inc postage to Rotherham?

Cheers,

Gareth.

OH NO!!!!! my poor eugene that i spent all that time on ... :( cambelt snapped??? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm not good. my poor poor engine!

got any pictures of the engine damage / cambelt etc for me??? i know its not nice but i'd like to stick them with my pics of the car i've got

has it had the gearbox rebuilt and the clutch replaced again since i did it?..

I'm as gutted as you, sorry Rae. I'd just began to tidy the bodywork up and finish off the charger conversion properly and was looking forward to getting it to a few shows this Summer.

The box and clutch hasn't been touched since you had it, but as you know I hardly drove the car.

I was told the seats were modified to fit, although the previous owner told me plenty of bollocks about the car. :x

I do have pics of the time when the cambelt snapped and I can get you some pics of the engine. The pistons are a mess and so is the head. I'll sort you out with the pics of the car and stick them on a disc or something for the next Dub Pres.

I'm moving on to a Mk4 Polo Saloon anyway, which will hopefully be a good project which I can start from the ground up!

...I'm as gutted as you, sorry Rae.

not your fault really is it lol. gutted.

cant comment on the previous owner really, didnt/dont talk to him much

be good to take a look at the pics etc of what state engine internals are in 18months down the line! cheers for that, appreciated.

cool about saloon - take my estate for a spin, buy it if you like LOL. its same as a saloon basically (except mine has a big boot) and mines the later one (2000-2002) so is sometimes called the mk5 one (because of dashboard etc). slightly modified S.TDI; FTW!

for anyone asking about the clutch then - its a CG Motorsport Organic one, made by a company local to me.

anyone doubting the price of the head, that cam was £300 if i remember rightly - i bought it new, you should have the reciept,

and the superchips chip, is £500 on their website!!!!!!!!

WTF? I'm feeling gutted for you.

Yeah mate, I'm gutted for you too but i need that fuel pump cos my car has died a terrible death! lol.

As I said to you Rae, the engine was spot on. Couldn't believe this happening, but hey ho, I've had some terrible luck with this car.

If yours was a petrol one I'd be tempted! I'm just after a cheap one to use as a daily, while I save up for a 20vT engine to go in the front over Winter :)

WTF? I'm feeling gutted for you.

Just don't wanna put any more money into it, and I'm after something a little bit more modern :-(

Like I said I'd like to keep the engine as much of a complete conversion if I can, if it doesn't sell in a few weeks or so then I will split up and you can you have the fuel pump :)

whats the condition of the back seats pal

Ahh right, ok then cheers.

postcode so i can work out how far away you are?
