I know its usually frowned upon for a first post to be a for sale advert, but in my defense I'm looking for a Polo GT!

I don't really want to be doing this, but I just havnt got the time (or money at the moment) to give this car what it deserves.

Spec:

  • 1987 Driver, 1.6. ~ 115k
  • 4 months Tax, 3 months MOT
  • 32/34 Webber Carb (about 18 months old)
  • Really solid shell, minor (and I mean minor) rust around the screen
  • Stainless straight through exhaust system
  • 16v GTi calipers, drilled+grooved disc and greenstuff pads
  • Weitec Suspension kit, shocks and springs, lowers about 50mm but improves the handling no end
  • G60 steels with good tyres (one wheel has a dink where I beleive it was dropped while tyre fitting) wheels have a few surface rust spots, just need a dam good polish!
  • Big bumpers - now has a standard rear fitted. (will also include another rear with plate recess)
  • Crosshair headlamps, 16v rears
  • Chineese spec door handles
  • Porsche Boxster leather fronts - electric lean
  • TT rear bench
  • MOMO steering wheel
  • Remote alarm central locking system with 2 fobs - currently only working on drivers door, has a loose connection to the passenger side
  • NO headunit, but has uprated speakers all round.
  • FREE - standard boot lid (in silver) should you wish to continue returning the back to standard.

Bad points:

Rear arches were 'trimmed' by the previous owner, so the plasctic trims have to stay on

PAINT, really flat and scored. I previously thought it needed a respray, but after having a breif go with the machine polisher it is showing signs of life, but will need some time spent on it!

Boot popper works when it wants to. (I'm throwing in a standard bootlid aswell as I'm not a fan of the flushed one)

Cambelt tensioner is whining when warm, but ill include a new belt+tensioner kit

Plastic trim has been sprayed with plastic laquer at some point, could do with a new coat

So, its a clean and solid MK2, with bags of potential, just needs some TLC!

Just needs someone with the time to give it a damn good sorting out. I'm at university so just don't get the time to work on it as much as id like. I've started over this half term, cleaning out the inside and tidying bits up but I just dont get time to do what I want with it!

These pictures were taken last weekend (it now has a standard rear bumper):

what tyres are on the wheels? and what condition? also could i have more photos of the porsche seats? are there any back seats?

  • Author

Wheels have Uniroyals up front, and I cant remember what at the back, all there not cheap tyres though. All tyres have got plenty of life left in them.

Will upload some more photos later of the seats etc, in the back it has a TT rear bench mounted on mk2 seat boards, so its a straight swap. (TT rear included with the Boxster seats)

Few more pictures here, showing the seats, and the paintwork:

Wrong way round, but you can see the scuff here on the passenger seat. Would look less obvious with a smudge of polish.

BUMP

Think it will need a new rear wheel bearing as it sometimes warbles.

Also, had to take the NS rear arch trim off, looking for a replacement.

As it stands, someone give me £650
