right, a few months back i was involved in an accident of which wasnt my fault, one month before my policy expires, and I've not yet recieved my no claims discount, and directline have turned around (i was with churchill at the time) and said they have not recieved a vertificate of no claims off my previous insurers so therefore they will have to bump my insurance up £560... is this right? how can i loose my no claims if it wasnt my fault and came off her insurance?

Did you get a payout from the crash mate?

I've just been in a bump in my car were a women opened her door as I was driving past (I am with directline atm, and also only got 1 month left of my policy funnily enough!) My case went through a liablilty team, and it all got proven she was 100% liable etc...if this is the case with you, then do some serious chasing to were your NCB has gone!!

I was tol dby Directline, even if I got proved not at fault, i could still tempromentally loose my NCB if they had to pay for ANYTHING, to do with the crash!!! Thats why i did everything throught the womens insurance! They did tell me though it woul dget re-instated once her insurance company pay them back what they payed!!

In conclusion, no, you shouldnt loose your NCB at all as far as I'm aware!

i think they wait to see the full outcome of the claim so when there is a payout issued then the claim is settled and you should get your NCB

It's bit a shit though if he has to pay like £560 extra on his insurance before the accident gets claimed for....

Never liked Direct Line though, they always seem very eager to 'up' prices for any reason possible...

i'd be on the phone to them now (well, not at 1.42am but you know what i mean?) chasing them up. insurance companies can be as fast as evolution at times!
