You could get one for the protection of the engine bay

Gozzard. I've got a rear strut brace on my coupe (from GED) and i notice a difference. Always found the back end was a little loose. This really tightened this up it feels more planted in the corners.

Also using a GEd lower front brace too. This also makes a noticable difference.

I have no idea what Mike is talking about though.

i've got a rear chromy one off ebay for £30 a few years back.

Also got a matching upper and lower front brace too although I've got a GED bar fitted so its not being used yet.

If you have cheap [probably rock solid] suspension then no.

Back end will become really twitchy and oversteer will be an issue. Not to much of an issue if you can drive properly but very unforgiving if you get it wrong.

Same applies if you do country lanes. A stripped out rear is very light and if its over-strutted then it all gets abit hairy as you cross over the camber in a road.

Agreed; where my polo used to suffer from slight lift off oversteer, i found out the hard way that it was worse with one of these on. I used to go round a certain corner near where I live at silly speeds in the dry, in the same dry conditions at about 10mph lower speed i oversteered off the road, into a tree and through a wall! admittedly I'm no rally driver but this made the polo's unpredictable handling about twice as bad!
