I'm glad I could spot a new fuel filter in the parts to go on picture, that old one looks well rusty!

very nice! That's one hell of an attention to detail you've got.

You must spend a fortune at VW, no wonder they call you "sir". :D

nother quick Q for genesis...

did you paint the mounting faces for the back plates on the beam? mine are machined originally, but rusty as hell round the corners...

you mean the bit with 3 holes into the body? or the stub axle mounting point? i got them powder coated all over. doesnt harm the stub axles at all

heres todays efforts:

new bits for the heck (steering arms and TCAs for the loon):

and the GT engine got stripped down for a quick tart up before going in the loon next weekend.

My GT engines one of the annoying early models with the half round timing belts, sorry for the crap focus photo but it shows how the teeth are nothing like each other.

IMG_0753.jpg

timing all lines up (join the dots)

IMG_0742.jpg

and ross came down to teach me how to do a clutch,(appreciated mate cheers) easy when you know how! He put a G40 clutch in the GT for me as it sounded like a good upgrade.

thanks guys!

peter the heck will be good when its finnished been gathering bits over the last year or so, so once the loons out the way, i will save up and start on the heck again. it wont be show standard as i strongly belive they are for playing with  , so should be very clean but usable. :-D I will bring it over to let you have a go when its finished as i want to take it to wolfsburg and the ring one day.

will send you the part numbers liam or could do a group buy on them, I'm not into chrome as UK doesnt have the climate so they tidy the catch up nicely i think.

todays poloing (well 1/2 day as i was lazy and didnt get up till lunch time) is:

how it looked at lunch time:

230509.jpg

nearly ready to come out but my dad went golfing  so it will be lifted out tomorrow:

23050910.jpg

so instead of the brake lines i re wrapped the headlight and engine wiring looms (think of the most depresisng thing to do and loom rewrapping is worse than that :| ) so still got the dash loom to do.

23050913.jpg

also decided to put a 22mm master cylinder on it, as everyone seems to say they are a good thing, so one way to find out!!!

They're fitted to Corrados and B3 Passats but a lot of cars are missing them. Never seen a pair in a scrap yard, just the odd one and it's usually knackered.
