hi guys. i have brought myself a mk 3 polo gt. i dont know much history of the car, but visually i can see that the engine has a 4 branch manifold which has replaced the cat. also the ecu has been chipped with a 'fahrvergnugen tuning polo gt chip'. it states its for a the 1.3 mpi 1991-1994 model which mine is.

the problem i am having though is the car stalls when i come to a stop (for example traffic lights). It wont do it at first, say the first 10 minutes after starting the car (I'm assuming the automatic choke keeps the revs slighty higher?!) but after that the car does not want to tick over happily.

I'm new this kind of modification as i have never really owned a car thats been chipped! (i own an air-cooled beetle!!) so i was wondering if anyone has any idea if the chip is the problem and it is worth going back to astandard chip?

the car has been driven by a few friends, and they believe the car is quicker than standard, so is the chip giving me more top end power but effecting the lower end?! or is it likly to be a sensor, throttle body etc?!

any ideas would be very appriciated as i want to drive the car...but its so frustrating driving it in traffic!!

Could try a throttle body clean & run some injector cleaner through the fuel

i have this problem with the gt I've just bought. same mods too.

thought it might be the battery as the car was stood for a while and mainly stalls when all the electrics are on........ althought the battery has tested fine. any ideas as its proving rather frustrating now!! ???
