I hate how rat look to some is putting really stupid stuff on your car.

Yeah the odd daft touch can work, but that's too far.

That Polo is cool as fcuk!

Sooo much better than the rusted bonnet army..

i just leaked :lol::shock:

that toilet install is so weird its cool!

The rat look can look okay if subtle and the car is old. It looks completely silly on a new car though.

Cool :

that polo has been knocking about on here for quite some time, its cool as fuck imo but in no way rat look, more retro with a twist?

i wouldn't get too deep into ripping the cars on another forum tho, not when the majority of users here (me included) either have a polo or an interest in them, there not exactly the most manly of cars are they?

i read rants all the time in fc or max power how people hate rat look, i dont mind it at all, you can tell the difference between someone whos put in effort and detail in their car, to those who genuinly have a shit car, self immit it, and trash it to follow a trend.

you can have a styled rat look, but what brings the average down are the idiots with no sence of imagination who call their car rat.

i like looking at decent rat cars at shows etc to try and find the detail thev'e put in, but i dout i would build a rat car myself.

anyone who would build a rat car in the future? :unibrow:

i've not seen a rat look car for ages, there all just lame rusty bonnets, checks and roof racks that some one has decided to tag as rat to fit in with a click, and a lot of them are far too mint to be rat look, how can you have a rat look car with good body work? (and no a few rust bubbles and small scratches doesn't cut it lol) major fail. the air cooled scene do it right, very very rarely does a water cooled car actually pull it off well, but when it does it can look so right, shame most of them just look shit

The owner of this has many friends here so expect a ripping at some point.

Plus it looks fucking amazing in the flesh.

Now for me, I do like that Mk5 Golf.

It does actually tempt me to put a rusted bonnet on my Mk7.

I wouldn't be doing it to try and achieve rat look, just taking inspiration from others and acknowledging what actually looks alright.

I see what you're saying about a rat look car with good bodywork, McLOVIN. I do however think that the contrast of good bodywork against a rusted panel can and does work.

Just my two pence.

It does actually tempt me to put a rusted bonnet on my Mk7.

please dont....

Come on andypandy, trust in the rust:

Any more convinced?

imo rat look = FAIL!

Dont even like Mk.3 Golfs realy and i would love that! ^^^^^

Not keen on rat in some cases, but I like some aspects of it and admire some of the cars that fall under that label.

For example:

I mean the attention to detail is awesome, he even gave a rusted look to the inside of the lights!

P.S. Looking at this bora and the previous posted Golf. I think I can see a "refined rat" look coming along. Similar to the style of Jimmy's Corsa B when it had the rusted bonnet. In my opinion, that was refined rat considering the rest of it was impoeccable and the rusted bonnet just set it apart from the rest.

everyone has a soft spot for it, 'Lust For Rust' as it were

why ruin a car, people get treatment to prevent rust and these people want thier cars to be rusty.

some cars can look cool i will admit but any newish car is just pure fail like that mk5 an bora

This is what I hate about the modification scene nowadays. You get people who jump into it fresh with ideas and ANYTHING at all that is different or out of the norm is shot down.

Then it takes that one person to come along and say "Fuck it." and go back to the old belief that it is their car and they will do whatever the fark they want with it. This is what I respect. I mean look at the Audi TT that the guy sprayed matte black, it takes MAJOR BALLS, but it's different and it looks uber cool. How about the Porsche 911 turbo near where I live, sprayed satin black.

It's about being different and rat look is an outcry against people who take the modification scene too seriously.
