I cant stop lol'ing

Featured Replies

Yeah but i mean..

Where does 'euro style' begin? plates? small wheels? slammed?

Then where does 'rat-look' begin? the car has to be a certain age? have a minimum amount of rust on the body?

It has to be not forced.

You cant call a car 'euro' just because it has some pressed plates though.

I'm curious as to what people would call mine when its done. because i cant think of a 'group' for it

Satin blue, slammed hard on some BBS RA's

Not rat

Not really euro

Its not in a group is it really? neither is that C2..

Thats the only true rat watercooled iv seen....but i didnt have a picture of it

there was a green caddy low rider as well that was no doubt a proper water cooled rat, again not over done with the tat, just a few nice touches to see it along

The 'rat' look is ghetto, if done properly :D

Martin.

But like everything, the trend spreads and people badge up their cars as hoodride when they clearly arent...

:roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll:

mate i think that's a photoshop

maybe i should post my old mk3 golf up on that rat look site, i got a feeling it would be right up there street

and olly...

I know its a photochop  But it was the best picture of non-hoodride but labelled as hoodride i could find  And your golf was a damn site more hoodride than the things i was trying to represent with that picture!

*This may not make sense, its late and I'm tired :) *

As much as i think most of the cars on that site are crap, I've gota ask..

How come, when these new cars try to copy rat-look, they get flamed..

But when someone puts up a thread about people in Corsas and Saxos running pressed plates and random small wheels branding themselves as 'euro', its a different story?

i think you've got the wrong end of the stick mate, its not because they are not vw's that there getting flamed, its because they are not rat look but being passed off as it.

i remember a while ago some noob started a site about the 'new and exiting' euro style (can't remember what the site was called tho), this chap basically had no idea about what euro style was or that it had been around for years, he had just read a bit about it in max power and thought that it was a new up and coming thing. he had just saw this bandwagon and decided to jump on it, needless to say his site was a failure, full off cars that had little to nothing in common with the euro style and users that also had no clue what made a car euro look. it was all cars with big wheels and spoilers, now imo if some one wants to style there car like that then fair enough, its there car, but when they are trying to pass it off as some thing its blatantly not (in this case euro style) then you have to be prepared for an ass kicking off the people in and around that scene.

needless to say when he posted a link to his site on here he got ripped to fuck.

yeah it makes some sense mate, tbf i didn't think that golf was hoodride at all (nor rat look for that matter) it was a cheep little car to hoon around in, it was a lot more shat look than any thing else. it wasn't me that painted it like that or that tag the hood ride logo on it, i bought it like that when i was on my arse and needed a dirt cheap car to get to work in.

slightly off topic what went on with hoodirde? i heard the bloke that was behind it all ripped of shit loads of people when he got in with the wrong crowd (heard the words Crystal meth being banded around too lol). shame cause there were some stunning photos on that site.

that's the one, there where some stunning pics of it slamming its ass on the road and leaving a wave of sparks in its wake

there was a story about how the body work got like that too, apparently the old owner had been sticking it to some ones misses, her chap caught them and rammed the caddy over a cliff

Yer i heard roughly the same thing, ripped people off then mysteriously disappeared :ninja: Shame tho, as like you say there were a lot of nice cars/photos on there :(

this thread should be used as an example of people who "just dont get it"!

clubpolo = fail.

Sorry, but you = fail.

I get it aright. A bunch of tosspots labelling there car as rat, when all they have a rusty fucking bonnet and a roofrack cluttered up with shit.

THEY are the ones who don't get it, how can you not see that?

Yes that beemer is nice. BUT I bet it was a dam site better when it had paint on it!

clearly you dont. here a re a bunck of kids emulating the awesome american rat-rod scene, taking influences from here there and everywhere, yeah there are a few with lights an rusty bonnets, meh, not interested, but there are some mental build threads on there, far more interesting than the same old shit on here! :?

just because its not to your taste, doesn't make it wrong... i only get pissed off at "kitted" cars because the quality and finish is utter wank, and the kits dont compliment the cars at all... i'm yet to see a "max'd" car with top-class workmanship and flawless finish and paint...

these Nu-ratters anre putting time and affort into getting a look thats a bit mad, its heap, its fun, and i love it! 8-)

* and yes, that beemer was fucking lush with paint on it, but it couldnt stay that way... ther is another beemer that is even cooler which was copper painted then copper corroded to go bronze and green... 8-)

I'm not slating the cars though, I'm slating the owners for calling them rat! when they clearly aren't rat.

Too many people barking up the wrong tree in this thread

There aren't any proper rat cars on that forum. If you find one then link it and ill stand corrected. Until then, the site is complete bollocks and none of them no what a true rat car is :)

Sorry, I wasn't aware you wrote the rules on rat look!...

  • Author

Neither was I

But if I were to write the rules. they would be very simple and along these lines....

Pass:

IMGP0377.jpg

Fail:

Hoodrides16.jpg

Doesn't take a rocket scientist

Natural : Pass

Forced: Fail

the "natural" one isnt completely natural... the paint is, but the slam, wheels, roofrack, lamp, iron cross, bonnet art, ariel, eyelids, stickers and even potentially bumpers have all been added (and yes i'v seen rustier bumpers swapped onto "original" rats...)

i'm not saying i totally love everything on that site, but i like that the kid is trying something differnet with a C2, it might not all work, but there are some good ideas floating about, i think its cool because its not being taken too seriously, which is refreshing...

I'm not saying its not cool (well I am because I don't like it. but that isn't my point) I'm saying that hes calling it rat when it isn't.

I don't think you can divide rat and not rat so easily, there's a lot of crossover.

What's the point in having a totally rusty bonnet, but the rest of the car is mint? Because it takes five minutes to put the original bonnet on,that's why.

Its fancy bloody dress.

The rat look is something that comes naturally,in time. It tells a story. It shows where the vehicle has been and what its been through, aged like a fine wine, displaying all its battle scars proudly.

You cant force that.

Infrickingdeedy Mikey, nicely put :nod:8-)

Real Manroe mmmm very pleasnat

Manroe lookalike, not bad

jhautt.jpg

Like genuine rat and produced "rat", both look good (matter of taste) but one isnt ever going to stun quite as much as the other

Fair enough 'nu-ratters' want to be different, but the only thing 'different' about what youre doing, is naming what youre doing after something it isnt, individuallity is hard to come by, dont spoil it by rushing it (thats what she said :unibrow: )

that kid with the c2 isn't trying any thing different tho, its just generic crap stuck to a c2 instead of a polo, golf, corsa ect ect, the look stays the same only the car changes.

the problem i have with it is its not ratty, not in the slightest, the body work looks mint, so i ask you this one simple question... how can a car possibly be rat look if its not ratty?

How can a car possibly be rat look if its not ratty?

It has yellow headlights.....and a roof rack!

Therefore logic says is "nu-rat""A subcatagory of rat-look, so that means it ties in and can be classed as rat" .... :disgust:
