Yeti's Coupe S

Model: 1987 VW Polo Coupe S..... The S stands for "sort of"

Engine: 1.3 MH Carb

Suspension: Standard, rebuilt by owner

Brakes: Standard, rebuilt by owner

Wheels and Tyres: VW Hockenheims wearing Avon 165/60/13's

Exterior Styling: Rust

Interior Styling: Mess

ICE and Security: Clarion r/cass and changer in glovebox

Comments: I purchased this in October 2008 after the previous owner decided she'd never get it sorted and bought a new car.

Since purchase, the following work has been performed:

Welding to both outer sills

Cam belt and waterpump

Front shocks and top mounts

Front ARB bushes

Rebuilt seized tie rod

Renewed exhaust downpipe and flexible section.

The spec of this car is a strange one, although it's logbooked and badged as a Coupe S, the data sticker shows it to be a Coupe C. It had from new:

CL Sport seats

Black vinyl door cards (now replaced with early Coupe S cards)

Sliding metal sunroof

1.3 MH engine and 5 speed 8P gearbox

Thick boot carpet and Coupe S steels with optional trims

Single courtesy light pin (driver's only, one of the few indications of it being a C).

Spot light grill

Arches and sill trims

The most popular theory is that this car was a dealer demonstrator so show the options that a coupe S could be loaded with.

Future plans:

General tidying and enjoying the summer in.

Looks good chap. Great that you've decided to hold on to her.

There's a plate on the brace just behind the grille badge (where adjustment bolts are for the bonnet latch),and it'll say GT there if its an MH engined GT.

I thought thrice about keeping mine red,but decided to go with the original colour of the replacement bodyshell for time/cost reasons.

I still think they look better in red.

Wow - it looks good! My wife (aka the former owner) will be happy to see it's still going!

Keep us updated!

Cheers
