1980 Florida Blue Derby LS

Featured Replies

Reluctantly, I am selling my Derby...

Model: Derby LS

Year/Reg: 1980

Mileage: 81,915

MOT: 6 months I think - will check.

Tax: Will be SORNd as of the end of this month.

Good points: Recent resto work including new sills and arches and a new front passenger side wing. New paint both sides up to roof. Recent discs, pads, fuel pump and complete fuel tank.

Bad points: Having some problems filling with fuel. It is possibly a breather problem, I have not yet had it diagnosed properly. I am sure it is a simple fix. Basically, when filling at a petrol station, the fuel ends up coming back up the filler neck and all over the floor! But when filling with a jerry can it is absolutely fine. Breather pipe has been inspected and given a clean bill of health, but something is going on and like I said, I have not yet got it sorted. It happened with the previous old tank, and now with the brand new tank (and filler neck) Very weird! Someone on here mentioned a second breather pipe. Not checked.

The driver's side door handle needs attention too. It is currently loose. Works fine though.

Location: Luton, Beds

NEW PRICE - £1000 NO OFFERS

No tax/MoT - non-runner at the moment - not started for months (my bad...)

Someone come and take this away for a bargain. Needs tyres now too as been left standing.

awesome looking car, wish my Loop had sold and I would have had this.

What work will be needed besides fuel filler to get her through an MOT?

Got 500 cash waiting? Sounds like it needs a bit of work

£500 is way too cheap! derbys in this condition are rare in the UK even not running! will cost a couple of quid to put right! glws

The car, as it stands, is not running. It probably wont take much to get it stated up again though. I think it may be due to the fueling problem. It could ideally use new tyres but before it was laid up it did not need anything for an MOT, it ran sweetly and drove well. The only issue was this fuel tank thing which is a pain in the arse, but probably a simple fix. I have no spare time in which to investigate, no skill of my own, and no spare cash to get someone else to do it!

I will NOT be taking less than a grand for it. PMs are being answered when the ruddy block thing lets me...

(And hi Gal - how's it going mate?!!)

Someone can come and take the car away for £800. It breaks my heart to see it sitting unloved. I thought it would have sold by now and have been waiting for a potential buyer but that looks to have gone sour now. Its a decent project.

Come and see it if interested. Luton.

As you can see there is a bit of surface rust on the sills and the driver's side front wing has some nasty looking bits at the bottom. Everything else is as it was. Bar perhaps a little bit dirtier as I have not washed it since before Christmas !

just the car i want! if it was a runner i would have this off you in no time mate! if you dont sell it and get it running PM me!
