I've never seen a rusty bonnet on an otherwise clean car look anything other than utterly stupid.

Cars dont age like that,so the origin of rat has nothing to do with it.

It just says 'wannabe scene monkey'.

Even then,a chalk-board is better.

I think its just something that divides people quite a lot. Seems to be two main camps of smart looking cars vs 'ratted' which is a fairly broad term i guess. Hood ride might be more what your going for though. People might be happier with that term. But if your going to do the bonnet, it may be worth kind of doing the rest (not all rusty!) Search the net for inspiration
