I'm stumped..

Got a shiney new Sony headunit to charge/play my iPod whilst driving...and also a big Vibe CBR 1000 sub/amp combo in the boot, hooked it all up tonight...headunit works fine ( except for loosing memory if i turn the car of for more than 10 seconds...something about red/yellow wires needing to be swapped on the plugs for a constant 'live' ? )

But no sound from the sub, no on light, nothing!

It's all connected properly i believe, 12v to + Ve on battery

Earth wire going to a bolt where another item is already earthed ( brown IS earth..right? )

Remote wire connected to headunit and to sub ( albeit a little thin.. )

What else could it be? Actually stumped!

It could be that the remote signal is not reaching the amp to actually turn it on...

Or that there isn't a proper +ve connection to it, what am i doing wrong! Help :(

Put a multi meter on the wire you think is the remote turn on from the headunit connected to the power with the headunit off. If you don't get a reading, try turning the headunit on and testing the wire again. If the wire comes up with a reading that's the remote turn on wire.

Yeh remote wire connected using a block connector to the 'amp remote' wire from the headunit, so the only spare wire i've got is the 'att' wire for the handsfree kit which i will not be using...

When you've got the headunit on does the amp light turn on?

No.

No.

Fuse on power wire? check the fuse

Could be a bad ground, ground the wire somewhere else see if that works

Fuses on the amp?

Checked both inline and sub fuse..both still have the bridge connection.

Guessing it may be a shit ground...

you will have your permanent positve and ignition postive wrong way around if you are loosing pre-set stuff, for example and the moment you headunit will complety loose power when ever you turn it off , but normally , if you have the two positves the correct way around , it will allways have a small amount of power to it.

Yeh, piss easy, standard guide, just need to know where the bung is to get from engine bay into the car ( near ECU, small platic bung, pull it out...comes out in passengers footwell ) and then just get happy getting it all under your trim...fun fun fun!

I'm ok on the getting the power cable in the main thing I'm not sure on is getting the remote cable to the headunit and any other cable to the headnuit, and finally, how to wire up the some front components to the amp?

Get a block connector and a length of Remote cable, connect it all up to your remote coming out of your headunit, plug in your RCA leads to the Sub out section, and then drop em down the back of your dash, reach up from passenger side footwell, pull em down, should meet your power cable here, then you just gotta push it all under your skirts etc...all the way to the back.

Took about 10 mins to do mine and you can't see anywires, proper tidy job :)
