insurance on polo's...

Featured Replies

ok, to be honest i'm getting bored of driving a little hatch back and been thinking about what i'll be getting once i move on... so today i was thinking a nice e36 beemer would be cool, it's kinda old skool now, its rear wheel drive and as close a fun as i'm going to get to the capri...

anyway, go to an insurance comparison site... £380 for a 1995 1.8i with extras like legal and courtesy car not taken off... but my 1.4 polo was about £420, and that was after some serios shopping around! the capri is a 2ltr and that was £200 last time i insured? so much for cheap to insure hey!

but sweet, a beemer insured for less than the polo, bring on renewal time! 8-)

been looking into this... apparently, cos loadsa nippers buy em as first cars and have more than their fair share of prangs, it boosts up premiums... where larger/more powerful family/rep mobiles come out cheaper cos of a 'cleaner sheet'!

like i would bet a 1.6 bora (if they do one) would be cheaper to insure than a 1.6 polo of the same age!

strange, a normal polo is only group 4/5 on insurance, not sure which

when i was 17, last year, got some qoutes after a years no claims cus i fancied a new car.

£1100 for a 1.4 60hp polo (Y reg)

£1050 for a 1.9TDI golf (05 plate)

welcome to the wierd and wonderful world of insurance.

get a quote for a supra.. then you will be getting ideas!

were did you get that quote on the polo mate?

Its all about how high a risk the car is

I got some quotes on few landrovers/rangerovers, ALL where cheaper than the polo. and all had nothing smaller than a 2.0, and all had at least one turbo

not forgetting how big they are, so you are more likely to have a prang in them

The big difference is, how many 19 year olds (that's how old I was) have landrovers? Not many, so that's why the insurance is muchos cheaper!

Just go on your dads :ninja: £420 fuly comp mods declared on my GT :)

mmm

£1300 fully comp on a Vr6 vurses £700 on a mk3 GT...

  • 2 weeks later...
