fan controls (dials) light mk4 polo

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

My mum has noticed on the polo, the fan controls backlight does not turn on when side lights/headlights are on. The electric window and mirrors and light control's backlight light work and I can adjust it with the dimmer function. Its just the fan controls (dials) that doesnt work

I was just wondering if there is an easy fix for this... maybe a blown fuse or something.

Any advice is appreciated

Thanks

nice one mate...

does anyone know what bulbs ill need...?

there 1.2w 12v GSF does them or go to VW there only cheap.

You dont need to take the hole lot of if you take of the little plastic bit then remove the switch your see the little blub just there

cheers mate ill have a look tomorrow!

so you sure it aint a fuse...?

No because if it was you would loss my then that as most of your other lights in the car would go as well

UPDATE!!

hi there, just had a look at the car...

i've removed the plastic bit and unscrewed the 4 torx screws. I cant seem to locate the bulb and buld holder?? I think its under the middle dial but I can remove the white plastic bit under the dial.

any ideas, i tried with a flatheaded screwdriver I'm scared it will snap!

Thanks

just pull it apart it will give in!!!! i changed mine for red bulbs then wiped the green ink off the dials with sum thinners centre is nice and red now

ok mate, ill try again and report back...

am i right in sayin that it is just the middle one you have to pull (white bit)

also i dont think I had to remove the torx screws?

Thanks again

Easy thing to do is either, pull the radio out stick you hand down and grab the bulb holder along with the bulb or carry on taking the front cover of remove the "middle" heater dial and you can pull the bulb out.

yes mate its the white cover you need to pull off thwe bulb sits in the center of it

Thanks for all your replies, just been on a mission lookin for the bulb... but finally found a shop that had it

got it sorted... i just removed the headunit and got to it that way!!

Sorted!!!!!!!!!
