What looks best?

Featured Replies

Hello my name is alex,

I have just got a mk4 vw polo 1.6cl 6n. At the moment it doesn't look like a car fit for a 50 year old let alone a 17 year old :p.

So I have some time and some money to spend on it to get it looking alot better, I am looking for some ideas on what to do. such as how far to lower it on some steelies, what steelies look best etc. I would love to get alot of ideas to help me out and pictures are a huge help too if you can.

Thanks

p.s here is a photo of it! :)

???

g60's would fit mate yes!! and i like the base car you have there! not many Mk.4 Classic in that colour done up on here!!

So you have a good start already!

Cant realy tell from your picture, but have you covered the basics? By that i mean the simple bits people usualy do, IE. remove: side strips, badges on tail gate/boot, mud flaps. etc..

as for how low to go!? its realy a matter of taste, but you shouldnt have a problem with a decent drop if your have g60's on there boss!! do you have money for coilovers? coz they would easy be your best bet?! then you can get your wheels and ajust your ride height/stance to suit!!

Lovely start tho mate! and welcome to the forum!

EDIT:

FYI: look up a company called Venom Motorsport, thats where i have got a couple of sets of coilovers as well as brakes and things! they are good, tend to help you out and i think they may give you a discount if you mention Club polo? not sure tho?!

Thanks alot mate. i haven't touched the car yet accept putting in a CD player :p and i have noticed the badges on the tail whats the best way to get them off and about the mudflaps you think it is beter to put some on?

cheers

NO! not put some on! lol! just take em off if you had em on! IMO they look poop, but things like that realy are upto you!?

The badges on a hatch can just be pulled off, i assume (please check) that its the same on a classic and that there are no holes under the badge itself. If that is the case, get a hair dryer and warm them up gently and then slowly peel them back off. You may want to get to some T-Cut and go cracy on the panel afterwards so that you cant see where the badges used to be!?

Cool! what else you got planned? any other pics?

Whats about your CD player business? are you upgrading the speakers or sticking with the standard ones?

:)

Nice base see very few classics done, clear indicators would look good! And quite subtle, have you ever heard the song pop drop and lock it well I always think of that phrase when someone has a standard car and they want ideas, pop the badges off side strips (as suggested)

drop mandatory if your serious about it (would look sick on airbags)

and DE lock it boot doors etc (please note I am not delocking my 6n boot as I wanna be different and I think it's a good look) but I've got delocked colour coded door handles coming soon)

There you go pop drop and lock it!

That should get your creative juice flowing!

Ok, i will try to remove the badges soon. yes i have installed a CD player with a amp and sub, sounds awesome :).. i was thinking about the indicators on the front and sides, plus maybe a badgeless grill, i know its fairly common but i think it is sweet :) air bags is abit extreme :p they cost $$$$ dont they? what do you think would be better, g60's or ats cups? (if they fit that is).

cheers :-D

Ats cups will look mint on that mate a good choice! I'd colour code the bottom of the rear bumper to make it look a little lower at the back and the front if it's black aswell. Then maybe tint the rear lights or get some full red or tinted oem ones. Lower it and you've got a winner! You could then maybe colour code some interior parts for your own pleasure :D :D

Oh and a little tip for you pal if you copy the image code of pbucket they will appear on The post mate

Get some nice plain plates too, cheap and always tidies everything up nicely...

'cough' P62 VW O 'cough' ;)

thanks :) would Ats cups fit? and how would i got about colour coding the black bumpers. can i simply spray them myself? where can i get me some 'plain plates':P

Probably best to get a pro to paint em and while your at it get some 5door rear handels and remote central locking get the handles colour coded too! With ate cups (yes they will fit if g60s fit) just find out a good offset on here! Would look ace on cups I'm pretty excited to see it happen!!!

hmm, this is where the big money and choices come into play :p ats wheels with tyres are around 700 quid? coilovers are around 200 locking and handles around 70? paint around 30???

thats a grand total of 1000 :p and i only got the car for 450 :-D he he he

plus indicators, more speakers and maybe tints. the list goes on :p

i rather like the de badged tail now though :).. i simply used boiling water, a sponge and elbow grease!:)

i will get some photos of the cd player and sound system soon :)

smart motor for what you paid there.

good color too.

Clear indicators on front and wings if you ask me.

And then lower.

Dunno what your budget is like but they would be my priorities, and then shop about for wheels, probably look at second hand ones.

Looking good Debadged mate!! As said above, new plates would clean that back end up, id also paint the VW badge black and maybe tint the rear light all red.. But again thats just an opinion!! either way mate your onto a winner! :)

thanks guys :) any one know how hard or easy it is to change the indicators front and sides??

about coilovers. are the cheap option any good as some come with a 2 year warranty.. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-COILOVER-VW-POLO...%3A1%7C294%3A50

i will get a debadge grill soon too :)

any one?

side indicators just pop out, you can get them off the bay cheap enough, with the orange bulbs as well.

Front indicators, again you can get off the bay, or get them off a seat ibiza from a scrappy.

Pay day today :) a few mods will be made this month. nothing to serious though :p

Doesn't have to cost the earth mate stuff can be got cheaply from here or people have the knowhow, like I thought I was gonna spend loads on c/locking but rclick.co.uk do a great kit for like 25 quid then get some rear handles dirt cheap of a breaker or scrappers etc and then collect all your parts you want colour coding n get em done all at the same time! Save you a few pennies! You may even be lucky like me and find some handles already colour coded to your car! Also drive about on your steelies for a while till you find the exact wheels for you! I no people who've gone thru 3 or 4 different ones cos they changed thier minds and rushed into a purchase!

Oh and a cheap mod that you may like and may decluter the look of you are car is to black out the door pillars inbetween the side windows I've been told you can get a good stick on film off the bay!

Also I dunno if they fit but I've got

Matt black badge for a 6n polo for sale would look good?
