Wiring issues

Featured Replies

Basically doing bike carb conversion on my mk4.

Have taken the ECU out as its not needed and it runs, but have a problem with the instrument panel.

Whilst the ignition is in the first position, all the gauges and things work, and they still do when cranking

But when the engine is actually running, there is nothing, no gauges working what so ever.

Anyone have any idea what it could be, obviously is something with the wiring but I haven't got a clue what, have tried plugging parts of the ECU back in but still nothing.

Is really annoying me now and need it running before long

That's normally to do with the ignition switch, on the older models anyway.

You could have either blown your existing ignition switch and it needs replacing or its not recognised as being on without the ECU. in that case you need to 'trick' it somehow.

I'm not entirely sure but that seems the most obvious place to look
