1996 Polo GLX 1.6 Black

Featured Replies

As described above my Polo GLX has wrecked it's second gearbox within 6 months and I just can't afford to a) get another secondhand gearbox where the parts company obviously lies about their mileage, or b) afford a proper re-conditioned one.

Apart from the gearbox the car is good. It's had new discs, pads, rear suspension and tyres all within the last 6 months. It also had a new clutch and a secondhand gearbox fitted 6 months ago.

It has the factory alloys in decent condition, the colour coded bumpers ( same as 16V or GTi ?? ) and the 16v interior I believe. The engine has covered 104 k and has never given me a single bit of trouble in the 18,000 miles I've done in it.

I would like to break it down and sell the parts individually but just can't afford the time or space at the moment. Someone make me an offer to take the whole thing away. It will drive onto a trailer and then you've got a good donor car, or a decent polo in need of a gearbox.

The rear bumper has a slight repair on the left hand side that needs touching up, and a tiny dent at the front of the bonnet.

If anyone is interested just let me know, I'll get some pictures sorted.

The car's located in West Wales, near Aberystwyth. All offers considered.

Cheers,

Bryn

Eta : forgot to say, the car's MOT runs until January 2010. Apart fron the gearbox was an excellent car.

aproxamate price ?

aproxamate price ?

I just want £200 for it to be honest. I'll get some pictures sorted over the weekend. Cost me over a grand, have spent close to that on it. New battery, new rear suspension, new tyres, new clutch, new brakes etc. I just need it gone and some readies in my pocket.

mate...youll get more by breaking the basics off it and scrapping it!!

the bumpers alone will get you about £100

Yeah I know, but time space, effort and postage etc. I just don't have it at the moment, which is why I thought someone would be interested in taking the whole lot off my hands pretty sharpish at that price.

Cheers for the advice though mate.

As you can see there's a slight debt on the front of the bonnest, and a dent on the bootlid behind the badge,

more to follow.....

Oh dear, it seems I can't post more files as I've hit 1 MB, I thought it was 1 MB per post !! I have photos of each wheel, interior, engine bay, door cards etc. If anybody wants more just let me know, or if anyone knows how to get more images onto this thread let me know that too !!

And James89, yes, it's just the gearbox that is knackered. 104 k, MOT till Jan 2010, even got a month's tax left on it. New clutch, new rear suspension, four new tyres, new discs on front and pads all round. Lots spent basically. Someone take it all away or make me offers for parts.

Cheers,

Bryn

You had a quote for a gearbox?

Where abouts are you?

There are gearboxes on here for between £100 - £150. Still not quite sure which codes fit which models. I think the 1.4l gearbox fits too but the ratios are shorter. If I could change a gearbox myself I would, but I can't !

I'm in West Wales near Aberystwyth.

Ahh ok.

Thanks!

Right, Shameless Bump , Is anyone interested before I put her up for auction. I have loads more pictures if anyone's interested. If anyone wants parts make me an offer.

Bryn
