NCB

Featured Replies

My renewal is coming up in the next couple of weeks and I'm just wondering how NCB works.

I have had my car since 5th June last year and been insured on it since that day. I am the policy holder, and the only driver.

Passed test on 25th september. Does this mean I have 1 year NCB on the 5th June, or on the 25th Sept?

Your insurer should send you a renewal notice indicating how many years NCB you have... send this to the new insurer as proof of you no claims

Well i have received the renewal notice, but it doesn't mention NCB at all. That's why I was wondering if the months when I was still a provisional driver counted or not.

I had this issue as well, they asked when did you obtain your licence i got my licence in june 07 and passed my test on november 07, as far as i am aware my car was insured from july when i took the policy out and my understadning of this is that the policy started then so my NCB starts from there not from when i passed,

HOWEVER my sister did the same as me , and they rang up and said when did you pass your test , not when the policy was taken out with on the previous insurer, so she got done and lost out on her NCB because of it , i think it depends on insurer , but best to ring up and double check !

Ok thanks for the advice, I'll ring them tomorrow.

Who are you insured with?

Endsleigh. Just called them and was told I will get NCB at renewal, I don't have to wait until september.

Now I just gotta decide who to switch to. My renewal quote from endsleigh is only £80 less than last year - £1286.

Just using the online quote things, ecar seems pretty good. I don't know if they are reliable or not, but declaring my alloys only added £16 on to the premium. They quoted £1065 which I think is pretty reasonable, and £1200 for lowered with alloys. Just out of interest, I set the NCB to 0 years and it went up to £1630 so thats the reason for wanting to find out in the first place.

Yea, I'm with Endsleigh... Been with them for 2 years.

I've called them and they said they'll send over the proof of NCB (2 years) When the policy has finished (02/06/09)

My quote went up big time! Moved house and had to change my car (polo 1.4 8V 6n died) To a crappy 1.6 8v Renault megane.

From £700 TPFT - £1,300 TPFT!

I called endsleigh and asked if they could do better they said they can only go down to £1,200.

After calling Brentacre, HIC, and Adrian Flux . Brentacre (QBE) With Break down cover came in @ £802 - £400 saving.

However, I think all in all hic offered the most things for the money, break down, euro cover, and 3rd party cover on any other car.

Cheers

Liam

So give them a try :-D

Yeah I have heard HIC are good, but it says on their site you must be at least 19. I'm only 18. :(

Might give Mr Flux a bell.

Thanks. :)

EDIT: Well flux quoted me £1600 and that was without any modifications. :S

They are 19 and above as well. I think I'm just gonna stick with endsleigh now though, I have been quoted £1026 which I think will be hard to beat.
