whistling

Featured Replies

A few weeks have past and a replacement door seal set have been fitted and the car doesn't leak anymore but still whistles. I used quite a fair bit of gaffer tape and taped over the door seams and the mirror gap as mentioned and it didn't help all that much as I was hoping.

So, still looking for a solution or is this just an old car problem? I'd like to adjust the door a bit but it's different than in haynes so I'm a bit at loss on how could I adjust them by a slight margin without almost taking them off.

A bit of grave digging.

Alright, it's still driving me nuts, but to a lesser degree. And I still haven't found the cause. I have fitted 6n2 mirrors, that didn't fix it(but they are electric and are awsome, though it was a bit of work to fit them), I've put rubber tubing on the doors to make it seal better, didn't work, I gaffer taped the window, didn't work. I've now tried looking at the cabin filter, which is the only thing I can think of that can be causing it. That huge hole. But I think that huge hole is too big to make it whistle. GAH. It's just annoying!

grave digging here too. M8 i have a 6n2, and it does the same thing. I detected the sound in mine comes from the door it self and the mirror gap... the door sound is gonne my mechanic aligned it, but the mirror... shi* can't do nothing unless swaping them...

in my old work car, the aerial whistled if it was bolt upright and we were doing about 50 ish, not sure if youve got an aerial so i thought i might suggest it?

I always thought my car whistles at 100 mph and strong winds, but now I see that it actually whistles at around 60 and onwards, but because I had my radio on it wasn't auidble. Now I see that it's simply not the case. Well anyhow, the car is just loud and it sounds like a hurricane!

what could be wrong? THe door seals look fine...

where were you driving 100mph??!

on a race track i hope tut tut

when i had a hole in my cat box, my car made a aweful noise. more like the sound of electric clippers going bad. really loud as well. and scratchy. it sounded likeit was the gear box. have you thought maybve it could be exhaust related.

My daughter's was doing this - quite a loud whistling from the offside window area. I tracked it down to the small gap at the bottom of the mirror fitting. Put some black sealant in the gap and the noise disappeared completely. It's relatively easy to track these noises by putting masking tape over all the seals and removing them one by one until you hear the noise again
