13's on valver brakes

Featured Replies

Basically i have some 13's that i didnt try over my brakes before i bought tyres just assumed they fit because they fitted over my glx brakes (stupid i know).

Are all 13's the same or is there a way you can get them to fit?

This as probably been asked thousands of times but i didnt know what to search for.

Thanks a lot.

that is poo, i've heard of people sanding there calipers. would you not be able to do this or is it just too much of a difference?

ah ok, what about g40 brakes would they fit 13's and be good enough to stop me decently?

thay wood stop you ok but nothing like the 16v brakes but you wood nead to change your hubs. is it realy worth it to fit a set of 13inch wheels??

Yeah i want a ridiculously low car. What would you say are the best brakes possible that would fit?

well go to a scrapy and get the brakes and hubs of a mk 4 with the 239 vented diskes get a good set of pads and diskes.

thats as good as you will get i think

i am taking mine off soon if you nead them

Some 13's clear.

Smoors do with minor work

Just put 8v brakes on! just because its a valver why does it warrent bg brakes?! end of day 70mph is 70mph...

But if somebody lammed on in front of me i would rather have brakes that stopped me quicker at 70mph

will stick with the ones you have then

ok if you wont mine i can sell you them coss thay are coming off so i can put 16v ones on. so if you wont them send me a pm

Wouldnt some of the Mini wheels fit? negative offsets should help brake clearance.. still, seems like alot of effort to make a decent performing car, unpractical...

i dont think eny 13 inch wheels will fit coss the 16v 256mm brakes are close to the wheel eny way

Like anyone does 70 on the motorway

End of the day 8v and 16v weight pretty much the same!! so it'll be like driving a 8v and 1000's people manage that everyday of the week!!

It's not just about curb weight. valvers are faster. Faster speed = more potential energy = need for bigger/more powerful brakes.

If you are going to use smaller discs, I would get a bigger master cylinder to compensate.

I'd be interested to hear what your insurance company say when you tell them you have downgraded the brakes!

Exactly what I was thinking

Off course you can fit 13's over 256 discs

Here's mine
