Storm grey 6n build and progress thread, 13 inch content...

Featured Replies

Got my 6n around feb/march time and have been doing little bits to it since then.

I attended ultimate dubs, some of you may have seen it there?

Anyway, bought the car like this with the following small bits done to it:

1. After market grille

2. Hella dark rear lights

3. Clear side repeaters

4. Clear front indicators

Shortly after getting hold of it, the plan was to return it back to the looks of my previous 6n minus the knackered bits lol :):):) :

Soon got the (crap) coilovers on it and the wheels went straight on after a good clean - my car at ultimate dubs:

Then bought some HT leads for it which didn't fit and were for a 6n2 i think... fail, so i sold them:

Shortly after this, the stereo from my old polo went in... which also used to be in my corsa before that... my mate says it's really 'chav' to have a lot of ICE but what can i say? I like crystal clear loud music:

Few pics of it after being polished with SRP, decent paintwork for a ten year old car:

Nice 1 bud!

Thanks mate, i searched high and low to find one this clean... all the other 6n's have ahad a really hard life (rust/dents/bad repairs)...

...next up i think is stereo out, back seats and interior out and more engine mods :)

They aren't a great fit as the wheels are 4x98 so they're on with wobble bolts.

...and no, they're smoor roadsters not minilites :)

Ed! Looking good man!

Chris.

lush colour, looking proper nice! ;)

colour does look good i think, also so do the wheels

not a big fan of roadsters, but imo storm grey is the best 6n colour! nice

I'm gunna have to disagree on 2 levels lol... i love the smoors but i think the best 6n colour has got to be that weird dark metallic purple. Dont know the paint code or name but its MINT and proper rare tbh.

All about storm Grey 8-)

Love smoors!! Get it lower 8-)

Thanks mate... but in all honesty, it's SO low underneath already.

I took the helpers out on the rear and my fuel tank hit the deck a few times. Also, i can't get over most single lined speed bumps (the ones that are a consistent line from one side of the road to the other) because the bottom arms and sub frame are REALLY low on the front. Helpers went back in...

Stance looks cack in those pics but it's quite tasty in the flesh, dipped at the front and raised a fraction on the rear with the fronts cambered in... looks nice :)

Few updates... pic of my car with my mates restored Daihatsu Charade GTTi:

Image0044.jpg

...and my cracked windscreen ABSOLUTE F*CKIN FAIL... can anyone explain why this has happened? Nothings hit the windscreen so my dad said it was probs a stress crack from the stiff suspension but i thought it may have been from being in direct sunlight for 3 days straight???:

Image0053.jpg

seen that auto glass advert? where he is driving down the road? lol 'auto glass repare, auto glass replace' lol well funny

your dad is right, will have started out as a very small stone chip, and you are susppension putting it under a fair bit of pressure going over a pothole or whatever, causing this...

unlucky though....

i doubt its much to do with the sun. I would agree with you dad. nothing hit it asin it was there after you were parked up and came back? maybe someone did it?

No, it was left outside my house and i noticed it one day as i walked past my car but there's not a single mark on it so i think it must be a stress crack because of the suspension...?

To be fair, i really don't think there's any chips at all but i agree that the suspension could have cracked it as the glass isn't made to take that sort of strain all the time and it's got worse to the point where i've realised it while it's been parked up in the sun.

Indigo blue?, my first polo was in this colour, real suttle pearl to it

My mates back window smashed when it was parked in a car park in the sun. It was only a year old swift aswell. He went to the car park security and showed him the cctv and no-one went near it so they come to the conclusion that it was the sun so it could well be the same with your windscreen.

Those wheels are looking awsome dude

Nah just checked indigo blue and it's not that colour, its like a purple metallic, proper MINT colour!

I am inclined to think the same although everyone said that heat doesn't crack a windscreen as it's designed to be in heat... although i'm not sure now you've said that lol...

...and thanks, the wheels are in good condition but O/S/R wheel has a few marks so i may have them refurbed soon.

Mine is Indigo Blue... :-D

In daylight its a real nice blue with a lighter pearly flake in it and as it gets darker, the colour completely changes to a blue/purple.

nice.

just thought id let you know, my mate has blown up quite a few amps with them mounted like that... i guess it depends where you have the heatsink...have a look before you end up doing the same! think heat rises and youll be safe.

i had the smae with my mk4 polo. came out one morning to find a huge crack acrossthe screen..:( we guesses it was from stress in the chassis and the temp drop over nite.

looks ace though

Cool, i'll keep a look out, i think yours is similar to windsor blue?

nice.

Thanks... it's ok, i've mounted them like that on purpose tbh... i smoked my last 6 channel amp when i mounted it flat on the boot floor but as they are, the heat goes into the rear bench as it's made of metal (same as the back of the amp, where the heat sink is) so it doesn't get too hot. In addition to this, i am running a second amp instead of using all 6 channels on the 6 channel amp so that it doesn't get too hot.
