i had the smae with my mk4 polo. came out one morning to find a huge crack acrossthe screen..:( we guesses it was from stress in the chassis and the temp drop over nite.

Quick update - got the car back from the bodyshop about a week ago having had the 8v front bumper smoothed and the jacking point indicators smoothed off the sills (as well as having a small rust spot ground out off the near side sill)... oh, my windscreen was replaced too and my private reg transferred across, few pics:

Finished work today and had nothing better to do than enjoy the sun and give the polo an oil change. I've done this as a mini tutorial incase any novices are planning on doing this and want to see how it's done.

First i got the polo onto wooden blocks. Some may not need to do this, but anyone on coilovers and 13's will find out the nightmare that is jacking up your polo (unless you already know):

Just to show that even with an 8v front bumper and on wooden blocks, it's still VERY low:

Then realised it was still too low unless i wanted to jack up by the gearbox, which i didn't, so i drove it off the blocks onto bricks:

Even on bricks i could only just get underneath with jack and thin wooden block:

Once the car was in the air i cracked on with dropping the oil out. Using a 19mm socket (i think) i slackened off the sump plug, then did the rest by hand so that i didn't get oil all over my ratchet. Remember to pull the dipstick out and open the oil filler cap so that there's no air locks and the oil flows out quicker. At this point i want to point out that whilst it says "food storer" i don't put food in that container:

Then for the oil filter. This is situated by the exhaust manifold and simply attaches to the block with a thread. Get a 24mm socket (i think) and slacken this off. Again, just slacken it off and do the rest by hand. Remember to put a rag directly underneath it as it WILL pisss out lovely oil over your driveway. Once removed, simply put a small amount of oil around the rubber seal on the new filter and attach the new filter using the reverse method. Replace sump plug, dipstick, fill with oil (about 3 litres in this car) and replace the oil filler cap. Job done:

...8v bumpers are something different tho as most go for popular 16v bumpers!

Right... decided the drums needed a nother lick of hammerite and the spacers i had bought also needed painting as you could see the silver bits behind the wheel (fail)...

Carbs back this week... watch this space :)

i dont usually like weeny wheels on mk4 onwards....but that is rather tidy

Thanks a lot guys. It doesn't massively stand out when you go to euro shows... but compared to other modified polos you see about, this one is a bit different. I decided to go for smooth 8v front end instead and not many mk4s on 13s where i live.

As for the camber, i did attempt it with a friend but we ended up breaking some of the drum components and called it a day after that. I have spaced the rears out 10mm though, and makes it look even fatter at the rear :)

I paid £320 cash and the guy smoothed my bumper and smoothed the jacking point indicators off the sills too :) including grinding out and treating a small rust spot.

Didn't realise there had been any more interest on this topic so i shall give you an update.

Well, me and my best mate recently started our own business, so the polo has taken a back seat which is a shame.

However, i have made some progress since almost blowing up my daily driver (Vectra V6 GSi) on the dyno a few weeks ago. Blowing up a GM V6 is a hard job, but someones gotta do it :-D

Anyway, a few pics:
