I've got this issue with the steering on my gt, kinda hard to explain but il try. If i turn the wheel right its fine but when turning left the steering sticks/turns in jerks. The best way to describe it is that if i turn it left it wont self centre but will just carry on turning left. This is a bit of a bastard on left hand bends as I'm constantly fighting with the wheel....

had any kerbing issues? your wheel could be buckled or the tierod slightly bent

Wheels arent curbed, and dont think tierods are bent May have to try a new set

I dont think so, although they do catch the tops a bit but theres cut outs there for them. They dont seem to hit quite enough tho to make it stick like it does

Got the same prob wiv mind dude(Mk3) duz it wiv both locks thou. Gets to a certain point and basically turns its self then. I've find new bottom arms, poly bushes, track rods and ends. All thats left now is top mounts and rack. I am glad you mentioned this i thought it might be normal lol

Should be track rod ends mate, had same problem on my mk4, got them changed and car tracked and all was fine.

sounds like the casters out if its not self centering

basicly its how far the wheel is forward or back in the arch, from looking at the car from the side does the wheel look too far to the left (toward the front) or right(toward rear). you could have knocked it out by bending the lowerarm/ball joint

i have the same problem too, I've replaced lower arms / tie rod end / drivers side tie rod / shocks / springs and topmounts

I think its the bearings...they need doing so will update when i have done :)

Hasn't got a subframe.

Back to the castor - if you've lowered it more than 35mm but not pulled the ARB forwards to compensate,then you dont ideally have enough castor. This gives you lighter steering but reduces the tendancy to self centre,and takes some feel and stability away. But with plenty of castor,it WILL hold full lock by itself with sensible tyres,and this is correct.

When it's only on one side,there can be weight imbalance. Doesnt mean a twisted shell - it can be as simple as one lower pressure tyre.

Top mount sounds good in this case too,as if its seized,the spring will slip more easily when turning right than when turning left,due to the direction that the coil is wound.

right so if my poor knowledge is correct *as I'm running about 80mm down* i need to pull the ARB forward more, I'm guessing that means Gladersite Bushes? or is there another way?

gladersiete blocks, or the g40 cup car blocks, if you get the dimensions you can make some out of ally, bort was going to but dont think he got round to it
