6n2 electric problems..

Featured Replies

Hi Guys, been having a few electrical problems recently which I/no one else can seem to figure out.

First of all the drivers side window switch stopped working, then did, didnt etc so thought it must just be the switch. the central locking then stopped working and became very temperamental too as it does occasionally work.

The passenger side window works fine and so does the central locking if i use the key in that door. so just the drivers side that has problems!

Door cards have been off and checked all wires/connections etc and all seemed fine. haven't yet located new window switches (damaged in removal!)

Would appreciate any help at all :)

Thanks

The central locking pump might need replacing

thanks mike but the pump is fine, it would work all day long if I used the passenger door to lock it

Sounds like the lock barrel on the driver's side has detached from somthing, or maybe the lock barrel needs replacing on that door

Have you checked the wirers in the rubber casing going from the door to the car.

I had a snapped wire there before, which operated the window.

yeah there all in tact thats the first place i checked. when the window first of all broke it wasnt just as simple as not working cos it would work one day then not the next etc..until it finally gave in and now doesnt work at all. I thought maybe it was just the wiring for the window but then the central locking and mirrors started to do the same so it seems to be everything to do with the drivers door.

never heard of something so strange before lol

Yea thats what happend to me, the window worked occasionally before going completely.

The central locking switch inside the car didn't work either.

Changed the switch and it turned out to be a snaped wire.

Not sayin it is the problem but sounds very similar.

ah right i see. when you say you changed the switch you mean the plug inside the door??

Think it was a brown wire.

PLEASE

the problem on mine was indeed the wires in the door plug, four of them had snapped so I have temporarily soldered them together til the other half gets round to rewiring it!

when you open the door there is a large black plug next to the hinge which runs wires from the car
