the problem on mine was indeed the wires in the door plug, four of them had snapped so I have temporarily soldered them together til the other half gets round to rewiring it!

when you open the door there is a large black plug next to the hinge which runs wires from the car

I found the problem, thank you for your advice. The Black & white had snapped.
