brand new coilovers wont move

the minute you go through a mud pool you'll fill the screw holes with crap and they'll never move again.

I'd suggest some gaffer tape or something over the adjustor rings to save any future hassle.

Never seen this design before.

Does the grub screw tighten directly on the body of the shock where the threads are? If so the garage might have tightened them too much and damaged the thread on the shock body hence not being able to move it???

The ring would just cut a new thread anyway over any damage the grub screw made. Whar material are they made of? If both the ring and thread are stainless, and a copper slipm like compound hasnt been used, they could be bound. If thats happened, you haven't got a chance of moving it again I'm afraid :?

By the look though, its an alloy ring on a steel body. If that grub screw has damaged the steel threads then that alloy ring will not be cutting the threads back. The damaged steel threads will continue to damage the alloy threads hence why its very hard to turn.

Hmm, yeah i guess. It depends on the material i guess. Horrible design though. No doubt to save money. Get wha you pay for i guess. R&D budget must have een cut! :lol:

well they werent that cheap, thought they would be good, it says there zinc plated

I've got them on my car and no problems what so ever, I wouldnt be surprised if some of the replies are people just copying everyone else saying they are bad and have never even used them. Have had no problems on mine at all, adjusted several times, undid the little screw and then moved the ring by hand it was that smooth. Get them from Venom? Give them a call, you get the 2 year warranty on them!

I've got GAZ coilies on the rear of my Mk3 GT, and they have only got one locking ring and a grub screw.

They were a bit tight to start with but gave them a squirt of WD40 and twatted em with a hammer and screw driver to get them started and that worked fine.

Then a week later the coilies sprung a leak out of the top seal on both sides!!!

So just be careful of how much hammer you give them pal.
