My parents are looking for a new 2 seater convertible, and have shortlisted it down to 3 cars. year-wise they are looking at either-

- between '04 to '06 MR2 1.8

- between '04 to '07 MX5 1.4, 1.6 or most likely 1.8

- between '05 to '07 Tigra 1.4

I'm guessing that the MX5 is the most sensible option in terms of pretty much every attribute, but they are everywhere, are the others close enough to consider even being options?

As long as they dont get the Tigra,they cant go wrong.

But out of the final two,id have to go for the Mazda all day long.

the MR2's look great in black with the optional hard roof fitted, and i love the mk1 MX-5's, but not too keen on the newer ones, so it'd have to be an S2000 for me....

How about security? If the car's frequently left in public car parks, then the Tigra offers far better security with it's steel folding roof, possibly equal to that of a normal steel roofed car. Fabric roof will need replacing, and is fragile.

I'm not suggesting that the Tigra is in any way the better car though.

They do the MX-5 with a fully retractable metal roof aswell.

Not sure about the MR2, think they just did a hardtop for that.

So I don't think that's too relevant, especially if they've decided on a soft top.

Of course the metal folding roofed cars are more expensive than their soft top counterparts.

why get 1 of these when the new rocco is out ??
