Spare 1.3 head - damaged

Featured Replies

Need rid of this asap.

Its the head thats been on my GT for 150k miles, and the cam bearings and tappets were going on it, so i changed it for a low mileage head.

I cannot sell it as a fully working head, so I'm not going to try to lol.

Instead, i would recommend its used as perhaps practicing porting on?

Or making into some sort of polo based artwork or shrine?

Or for a very temporary head if your quick at whipping them on and off.

Either way, it did still work when it was on last, it was just noisy. It would probably run for another 50k, but eventually i presume the camshaft would seize in it or something... The head is only aluminium so shouldnt damage the hardened camshaft, but no guarantees.

There are small scratches on the camshaft seats that arent visible (except a couple of them), but you can feel them with your nail. It could be possible to ground these and fit some real bearings, but doubt its worth the hassle.

The head has also been skimmed once already by the looks of it, and I'm not sure if it would survive another skimming.

It still has the spark plugs, valves, tappets etc in it, though all have been on there for 100k+. So work, but false economy to stick them in something youre building properly.

Its also missing a couple of the cam cap bolts, as i needed them for the new head.

Pretty much a written off early cylinder head from a high mileage GT.

Collection from Coventry, or can meet close by now the motors running again.

if nobody wants it, the scrap metal merchants will have it

Any takers?

As you can see, it is the - Head, Valves and everything with them, Tappets, Spark plugs, cam caps, 6 of the 10 cam cap studs needed.

joestanton4 - no way am i posting it. as stated already, collection only. I'm not going to attempt packaging it, let alone carrying the damn thing to the post office...

cymro - wft u on about lol. either way, you want it or not?

alexbmx - if you can come and get it, you can have it, maybe a small donation to my "keep my GT running" funds would be appreciated, but not really bothered.

olie_coupe - as stated in description, i got rid of it because of the nackered cam bearing seats. Its also been skimmed quite a lot already. It will not be alright, after just tappets lol. you could use it to practice the porting and polishing though.

Most of the answers here i think were in the original descrip :disgust: lol

But ask any more questions you have.

Bear in mind though, I'm leaving Coventry this weekend... and I'm not taking it with me. So if you want it, come and get it (or arrange for local meet with me) tonight! PM me!

Or the skip gets it...
