Due to the recent thread about RC cars and quite a few people owning one, i thought i'd start a thread for you all to just post some pictures or videos of yours up, so i'll start:

I've got a twin detenator electric one and a nitro 21 xtr. Both fast but i just cant be bothered setting up the petrol car as the weather changes! too much hassle when all i want to do is drive it around for an hour or so!

fair enough, electric ones are still quick, get some pics of them up

i will get a pic if mine, aint used it in years as the steering broke when it smashed into a curbs wilst i was drifting it on icey roads many winters ago, its HUGE

I've got a fair few R/C cars that I have collected over the years. I only have a couple of pics though.

1. Mardave Marauder Nitro - Not got this one running yet. As soon as I have some time I will look at it and see what needs doing. Supposed to be pretty quick and its very old so everything is nice and simple on it!

2. Tamiya VW Beetle - Never been driven just sits in its box on a shelf.

3. Tamiya Rover Mini Cooper Racing - Another one that has never been driven and just sits in its box.

4. This is my pride and joy. Its an original 1980's Tamiya Midnight Pumpkin - It was probably driven in the 80's but I have never driven it. Its got aluminium oil filled dampers all round, a 12 turn motor and electronic speed control. I had the brand new shell resprayed in Ford Panther Black and put some chrome wheels on it. I am still waiting for some free time to finish it off.

5. Tamiya Pan Car - No idea what the chassis is but it has a Honda NSX Nascar shell on it. I've never driven it. No pics of this one.

6. Tamiya Vanessa's Lunchbox - Not finished building this one yet. Will probably never drive it. No pics.

7. Tamiya Ford Mondeo - I bought this as a project and have most of the parts. Its an FF01 chassis which is front wheel drive. I have been told that they drove like shit when they came out. I will probably never drive it so it doesnt bother me. All I need is a replacement shell but they are like rocking horse shit. I have been looking for one for almost a year now. No pics.

8. Tamiya Ford Focus WRC - I bought the TT01 chassis first, built it up with loads of hopups like aluminium oil filled dampers, anti roll bars kits, 12 turn motor and esc, carbon fibre deck etc etc. I then bought the Focus shell to go on it. Just need to spray the shell at the moment and it will be pretty much finished. No pics.

9. Schumacher SST 99pro - All carbon fibre and goes like shit off a shovel. Its got a battered old 3 series BMW shell at the moment. Cost about £200 just for the chassis about 8 years ago. No pics.

Thats all my cars. I will try and get some pics of the others if I can be arsed.

Yeh I will sell it. I want £90 plus postage. The kit is £90+ from most model shops plus postage if you buy it online. Mine also comes with a steering servo and a reciever plus I will chuck in a set of ballrace bearings so you can fit any motor you like without worrying about melting the plastic bearings. All you then need to run is a remote control (£10 off eBay) and battery and charger.

The car comes with the box in mint condition with the user manual. As I said I have never driven the car. I built it, sprayed it and then put it back in its box.

amazin' collection you got there sammo, have to admit the favourite for me would be the mini, then the beetle. its a shame they dont actually get used though ay :p

Hehe when I was 14/15 I had a couple that I used to run. A Rover Mini Cooper (original one not Cooper Racing), a Mini Monte Carlo (rare as fook nowadays, wish I hadnt got rid of it), and my nitro car was a Schumacher Lotus Elise Big 6 (1/6th scale Lotus with a Thunder Tiger .21 engine. It would do 0-60mph in 2.5 seconds!!!) The nitro car was bloody expensive to use and you were guarenteed to break something every time it was used. Plus the glow fuel cost a bomb so I sold it.

When the Mardave is all tidied up I will be using it down the park. I doubt I will ever drive any of the electric ones though. Still doesnt stop me from fitting them with bloody expensive electrics though lol.

You will probably find the air/fuel ratio isnt quite right. Take it to your local model shop and the will sort it for you.

Ben, how many screws do you have? you should have 3?

Start by sorting your idle screw (google the make of your engine to see which screws do what)

Get your car off the ground but so that the wheels can spin, i use 2 bricks, one at the front and one at the back of the base of the car

Have your idle screw set so the engine revs quite high, when it gets warm then screw it in a little to slow the revs a bit

Then find your low speed screw, and have it so its rich (lots of smoke). Put the car down and let it idle, you want the car to keep going for about a minute before it floods and stalls/dies. If it goes any longer then its too lean, if it dies say before 45 seconds then its too rich

Then, back on the bricks and re start, screw your idle screw in untill it is stuttering, then unscrew untill youre happy with how high its revving, i do mine about half a turn iirc. Then back on the floor, but this time you dont want the car to run for more than say half a minute

Once thats done, keep adjusting untill the car sets off and gets upto speed quickly and smoothly, and it drives smoothly whilst at low speeds. It will no doubt piss you off but it has to be done, so have patience child. It "shouldnt" stay driving at high speeds, and "should" die at this stage of tuning, if not then youve got lucky with the other screw . You wont have to play with the low speed one again either BTW

Right, now screw the other screw fully in and unscrew 2 1/2 times, let the engine get warm and then try a high speed run. Dont go straight upto high speed, sort of gradually build up speed (above half throttle) and watch the smoke level, you want the amount of smoke to be consistant (will be hard to judge with wind and shit) and high-ish. If it changes when you get to fast speed and/or stalls then youll have to adjust the other screw some more. Less smoke then its running too lean, more smoke then its running too rich, adjust accordingly :-D

Then remember where you have set all the screws to

Next time you use it, and the engine is cold, just adjust the idle screw and let it drive on its own to get warm. Give it tiny amounts of throttle to keep it going though every 20 seconds. Shouldnt take more than 2 minutes to get warm enough, youll know if its warm when it idles whilst on the floor with the screw set to how you had it whilst tuning

If you want it to go faster, then adjust the other screw so that it runs more lean. Your engine wont last long though
