Can anyone quote on a full respray (colour change) for a 9n?

IT can range massively depending on if you do much of the prepping yourself, quality and who you know. Anything under 1k usually won't be great so I've heard...

Looking around 2 grand mate.

The door shuts will need doing, along with the inside of the boot lid, engine bay, under bonnet. A hell of a lot of work to be done. I think the respray should be your final mod tbh after you've had bodywork etc done.

I paid 250 quid for mine - included new panels,paint,laquer,prep,etc.

Obviously it was done by a family member and you'll pay a minimum of four times that.

Point is,my laquer is slightly/softly orange-peel but i dont care as I'm no concourse buff (its enough that its all the same colour). You,however,have resale value to think of - so id advise you pay the extra to have an extra couple of coats applied so you can cut the paint after a few weeks and buff it mirror smooth.

i am in the middle of doing my respray after finally finishing body mods .so its take me well over 6 hours to flat the boot and bumper and a door looking at about 20 hours more if you pay under agrand dont expect the man hours into flatting to have been put in

Looking to switch colours from white to blue on my MK2 and have been quoted £800 to £1400....

Not looking for anything special and I can only live without teh car for 3 weeks so thinking teh £800 option with the local eastern european enterprise will have to do.

2 days stripping and building- 16 hrs

2 days prep - 16hrs.

paint - 2hrs.

polishing- 5hrs

paint and materials- about £500, depends on what paint you go for.

39hrs @£28 hr - £1092 labour

£500 paint & materials- £1592

VAT -£238.80

Grand total - £1830.80

Tbh it reallly helps if you know someone, I've heard of people getting quality jobs done for half that price by mates, due to the economy etc..

I'm trying to work out how much it would be to get a Mk1 Golf sprayed up.. its already been stripped and is currently oxide red rattle canned

Anyone got a rough idea? doors wings bonnet etc are already off.. i'll prep the panels as best i can and i'll do the engine bay and inner shell myself, and can probably cut and buff it myself.....

If you do all the prep work, and your happy with it. Your probably looking at £400 to blow it over, this will include paint and materials.

so all we have to do is clean, mask and paint.

So I sell and buy a black one? :p

I've got a couple of bad scratches, panel, bumper, spoiler, roof... So was looking at £400-£500 just to get those sorted in a colour I don't even like, so was wondering how worthwhile it would be to get the whole job done...

On just under £5k worth of car it's not really worth the £2k, I'm certainly not concours bound...

The cheepest option is to sell yours and buy 1 with the colour you like :-D . If you go for a colour change on yours, it will de-value car straight away.

You pay for the labour more than anything else. The more hours put in the better the finish!

The use of a DA and then paint, which for a quart is around £10 for older paints such as VW Candy white and for newer, I'd imagine it isn't much more expensive than this. Noting that a quart was used to do my 16v bumper and my boot lid.

However, the price WILL vary mate from shop to shop. You are defo looking closer to the 2k mark for a colour change, but for the same colour, you will be looking at a lesser price, more around the 1.3k mark.

i got qoute 1500 for a basic colour change.

and about 1k for a full repaint.

the guy i use is awsome but he is a mate so i get a good price

depends on what mods you want to do and thats probz the most expensive....

ives spent a fair bit on bodywork on my car, cars had nearly every pannel sprayed excepts driver side doors.

most expensive is the roof me think....but dont hold me to it, was the most expensive for me and that alone your looking about £300 for a flush roof. but i had mine done gloss black :)

i love seeing peoples faces when you tell them prices for stuff , they thing its a simple spraying paint on but there so much to it than that
