anybody had a 156, or any alfa from around that year are they as unrealiable as made out?

i dont mind a bit of maintenance but i am a bit of a car killer

only 800 to insure tpft off confused aswell

quite taken by the 147 aswell but on my budget [2kish] i could only afford the 2.0 and its twice as much to insure n only 150bhp :(

mate of mines got a 156 estate. its a really nice car, but he has had quite a few issues with it.

bit of both...

had/has problems with the selaspeed gearbox (semi-auto) going to neutral for no reason, rear windows need help to move (not used very often, so may just be fured up), drive shafts (possibly) making a bit of a noise. it was off the road for a lil bit a few weeks back for some reason or other...

ill have a chat with him soon and let you know mate cos i cant remember off the top of my head. he's had quite a few problems with it tho.

I deal with Fiat Group Autos (fiat finance) alot and the noise from the v6 is lovely sitting in the drivers seat i always think why dont i have one instead of my vw. While they aren't the best made car in the world there not as bad as reputation makes out, am i right in thinking the v6 in that 156 is from general motors?
