i need a definate answer been looking around some people say mk3 some say mk2

some of the parts listed under mk3 and mk2 both look the same as mine, then again others dont

really confused

and ideas?

To most it's a MK3, but the rest of europe call it a MK2F.

No its not,its a MK2-facelift. But there's a strong culture in Britain calling them MK3's (including this club).

To VW and europe its a revised MK2 - the MK2F. The MK3 was introduced in 1994 with the chassis code of '6n'.

Here in this club,people understand it as a MK3 (despite it clearly being a second generation body),so you'll find it easier to call it so here.

But beware when buying/selling/describing parts for it because its still largely recognised as a MK2F (as well as a MK3 by some companies who've chosen to use the alternative grading) and people can end up with the wrong parts as a result.

Any more info needed,just look up the company and its car ranges on Wikipedia,or ask Volkswagen themselves - who each say MK2F.

I still use the proper grading,as far as I'm concerned its a MK2F but some have come to far to go back (the club 'Polo3.co.uk',who deal with the first two generations,must be a good example..). Anal of me maybe,but at least here you have some information other than 'its a MK3 mate..' and the information you've requested.
