right so picked the car up today! £50! chuffed with it....it had been stood since tax went....

2004! lol in the same spot, not ran n whatnot. guy who oned it rebuilt it after 80,000 so engine is in good nic! its done 160 ish now though and engine is part way through the build....

but its comming out next week, only thing left to take out lol.

spent the whole day stripping it and cleaning the body work...as u can see from some pics alot of grime from the past 5 years.

so days work.... including the collection etc...so about half 1 i started stripping...didnt have my trusty socket set, so spend about 2/3 hours taking off what i could with my screwdriver...whole interior came out! lol

as u can see, engine is still half way through being rebuilt...but its comming out anyway lol, will rebuild it when its out...

mate came with his mk3 loon, pushed mine out side for a few snaps...

now for the roof! lol u can see where its been wiped lol

went home for about 5, had tea etc...got back down unit at 8, with my socket set...

now stripping the mother down! taken dash out, engine loom, dash loom. not yet sue what i need to use off the orig loom, for rear lights, heated rear screen etc...

tow bar came off....

wiring for lights and a beeper?

rear brace for it...

mounted to sparewheel thing..

now holes there, need to welt them back up..

these can be used for a drain lol

this wire is for the numberplate light..

due to this car being 20 yrs old....i was supprised to see origonal plates on the car!!!! and the garage is just round the corner lol will take it in and say 'remember this?' lol

love this sticker, shame its fucked,....might keep it though!

now moving onto body work....was in really good condition for what i was expecting after being whethered for 5 years!

now this is the biggy, the hole!!!

not as bad as i though...wont be too easy to fix, but got 2 solutions, cut the small hole out into a square, weld the square back up, or go scrappy, cut new panel and weld tht in, eitherway i need to learn to weld! lol

there is alot of grease or summert on to stop the rust...owner is good with cars was going to g40 the car but didnt have time or cash

prev owner wanted to do amature radio, had his gear linked to the polo

on the boot and one on top of the roof too

got a cordless drill and a wire brush thing for it, decided to take off as much rust n shit as i could so this happened!!

so next weeks tasks are to drop engine, need to hoist it out, might try a tow rope over a cross pillar in unit to lift lol. whole underside is comming off...rear axle, front suspension shit, fuel tank.....u no the rest....

haha indeed.. we are dropping a new engine in/replacing the brakes/replacing the exhuast/and dropping it 80/60 on philj's/replacing cracked rear light/ theres some other bits n bobs but thts all i can think of, oh and it has 30k miles on the clock mint pretty much inside and out. cant wait for the weekend!!!! let me know how you get on with it mate. dont now who out of us will be finished first but if i can help at all ill try!

lol ok mate, can take pics of how its been done if u want b-shaw? really simple! not bolted to the chassis its bolted to the rear of the car and the sparewheel well....

so yeah as joe pointed out, the smashed rear window...taking all glass out...2 rear side ones came out easy but the rear want playing along

bit to much none equal pressure and it gave in, . came out took pics of it tidyd up forgot when it was smashed lol

luclily for me it came out, rust hole and small bits of rust arround the sealing point...

also started sanding...used what i had at the unit...some shit paper that was too fine lol so it wasnt

oh yes a hell of a lot not looking to be on road this year...maybe around UD 2010....sort of time...although plan was to drop engine in and then keep it how it was...but i thought fuck its not fair on the car! lol so getting fully restored...or to my limitations anyway...will be needed a decent body shop...for what i cant do to help...any ideas anyone???
