I've got a 2002 Polo, 1.2 E and in the past week the indicators have just stopped making the usual "clicking" sound when on. The low fuel warning 'beep' and the low oil warning 'beep' have also stopped working.

Has anyone else experienced something similar problems or have any ideas as to what is causing the problem?

Any help is much appreciated.

Just noticed there that the warning sound for the head lamps being left on when you open the drivers door isn't working either. I would normally just take it to the garage and let them deal with things but I can't afford to at the moment.

Where abouts would I locate the relays and is there any tell tale signs that they are knackered?

As you can tell, I'm absolutely useless when it comes down to anything electrical with cars.

An update: Code reader shows nothing. I use VCDS-Lite. No faults found!

And how do you know the low oil beep doesn't work..?

It is a problem. Driving with the indicators on without realising is dangerous! I don't know if it beeps at you for anything else, mine broke soon after i bought the car, but i'd love it to beep when I leave the lights on, something becoming kinda common recently :s

I'm a vw tech and my suspesions look towards the dash panel being faulty... as the dash panel makes the noise for all of the listed faults, even the indicators!!!

We check these by using VAS5051B and using output diagnositc test mode check all off the dash consumers,,, noisers/gongs/instruments etc

i think its a common enoughf fault with them, the sis had one new and this was happening, she just fcuked it back to the dealer.

But how would I fix it?

bring it to someone with the right equipment..

look I'm all for DIY's, but sometimes you have to realise theres somethings you just cant be tight with..

garages might be dear, but thats because businesses have overheads, the more clowns who try to do everything themselves, the less business garages get, the more they have to charge to be able to pay the bills.

I'm not calling you a clown, but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and bring it to a specalist.. there called that for a reason. hope this helps

If there's anyone on the forum that would be happy to help who has the right equipment, I would. Then we can finally write a guide on it. I'd have thought there'd be more information on it, it being such a common fault. I'm a full time student, by the way. I have no income. Come October, I'm studying cybernetics at uni. 2 very good reasons why I should try to fix this myself!

Problem solved. The speaker is fixed into a plastic module. Remove the module from a scrap cluster and replace the broken one with it. Sorted! I'll post a guide up soon with instructions and photos on dismantling the cluster.
