Right lately I've been polishing some bits so thought id have a go at a steel wheel, I'm just wanting to know what you all thought. I only spent a quick ten mins on this so it isnt finished and far from perfect, its just to give you an idea. I'm not too sure it works especialy with the tyre profile but please coment cheers.

I'm not really a fan in that size, if they where banded or bigger diameter i think would look the tits, but you would need to laquer them. rad looks quality tho!

looks nice and shiny, balloon tyres ruin it though :p

it would look much better with the lip done, i don't think that helps it any but i think they would look good.

any thing that you have polished that is steel will need lacquering tho and i've heard that can take the shine off it...

Yeah been told that wax is the best way to protect them, I'm just bored at looking at the wheel trims so thought id see what i could do, was going to do the lip again gloss black or maybe red but think it will be better just to save and get some nice rims

laqure puts like a haze on the finish, but i spose its better then rust

i quite like tbh, differnt to the normal black centres n polished lips you see.

Yeah that does look smart, seen some bbs wheels, i get names confused but the g40 ones, they just need to be cheap enough lol

it doesnt look right on those steelies, but others i reckon it could look good

the radiator looks good, it'll be a pain to keep clean though i bet.

not liking the wheels, but thats more to do with the wheel design, as opposed to your attempt at polishing, just look too fussy to me.

i would agree that wax is your best bet for protecting the finish. a highly polished finish is actually pretty rust resilient when waxed aswell.

how did you stop them from rusting? they look spot on but surely that's not just bare metal? i work with bare steal and it don't stay that way for long after getting wet

any one now if wax works then? just looking at different options for my steels but if i'm gonna go through the ball ache of polishing the wheels i don't wanna loose the only reason i polished them (the shine) by having to lacquer them, seems a little pointless lol

i cant see wax lasting long

it protects my exposed alloy on the schmidts, but they dont tarnish as fast as steel does

paint them in clear nail varnish
