i have just installed a 4 gauge wiring kit into my polo with a distribution block for the + and - i am running to amps a fli 2 channel 400w and a 5 channel fusion amp 1000w. my 2 channel amp is powering my front components and my 5 channel 1 is powering my sub and square 6x9s i have wired them all up correctly i think!!! i have 2 rca cables going to my 5 channel amp one to the sub channel and one to the rear then i have my + to + and my - to - and my remote cable to the back of my head unit n then that remote cable goes to my other amp as well. and my fli amp is wired up the same but when my car is stood still with the engine off the sound is great and powerfull but when i am driving in my car my fusion amp is turning its self on and off showing a red light so i thought it could be bad earth are + so i swapped them around off my other amp but it still keeps doing it just on my 5 channel amp and as soon as i turn my engine off it comes bak on and all seems fine :S:S

Hmmm, sounds like your asking too much of your alternator. How olds the battery? I wouldnt think it was this as i'm runing 3 amps, a sub and 2 sets of 6x9s and mines ok, but if your batteries old, it wont power everything. I had this prib when my alternator was on its way out, and the same when the battery was knackered

the car is 2001 and i have not changed my battery since i have had it for 2 years but it seems to be in good order as i used to b powering a sub 6x9 and components and all seems fine

and also y would only one of my amps turn off? lol strange things

Not sure why only one of them would turn off. But it used to just be my head unit, i should imagine its the one taking the most power, but then my head takes nothing compared to the sub. Indeed, odd.

Are you only losing power in one of the amps? Have you got them earthed independently?

i am just loosing power in the one amp fusion 5 channel 1000w powering my sub n my 6x9's but as soon as i turn my engine off it comes back on my earth is the same as what is on my 2 channel fli amp swapped the + and - around between the 2 amps and it is still that one that is going off could i be asking 2 much of my amp? should the casing on the amp get warm? what happens to an amp when it does over heat? but it cant b because it is over heating because as soon as i turn my engine off it all comes bak on working fine

Sorry, i'm a little confused with your explanation You want power going to each amp individually, in parallel, not in series. Same for earthing. If you have two amps, you need two 30 amp wires (or a 60 amp, split into 2, one each to each amp) and you need two seperate earth straps. Keep all your wiring as short as possible too.

Its possible it could be getting hot if you have it in series, as one amp is trying to earth through the other. If it gets too hot, something like a transistor will burn out, and it wont work anymore

i have a 4gauge wire running from my battery going in to a distribution block in the back of my car which is then split into two 8 gauge wires i think going to both amps. for my earth i have took my seat belt holder off underneath my seats give it a bit o a clean with a wire brush and then but my 4 gauge wire onto that then that goes into a distribution block which with splits in to 2 8 gauge wires and then they both go to the 2 amps the remote wire is fed from front to car to rear of car and is connected to my fusion amp which i have then ran another wire from that to my other amp as a remote wire for that

no no spare batts nockin about but if i disconnect my fli amp off the cable so its not running n just run my 5 channel one that will tell mi if its the amp are the batt wont it? because i was running just that amp before and it was fine had no problems with it

yer checked all connections because tha'ts what i thought it was at first..

it could be the remote out from the h/u

most h/u' remote outs only give a 12vdc 2mA current and so sometimes when you connect more than one amp they will pull too much current and the current hungry amp (fusion) will go off

the easiest way to check is to put a wire from the 4awg cable to the remote and then try it if it does not cut out theres your problem

it is easy to solve using a relay to boost the current

I see what troublestarter is saying. Run a seperate remote wire from front to back, so you have two remotes, and remove your one thats bridging the amps, so you should end up with two small wires from the head-one to each amp

no thats not what i mean that will make absolutely no difference he can still use 1 remote wire but add a relay in line to boost the current

that is providing of course he has tried bridging the remote as i suggested earlier
