cheers m8. it seems abit of a grey area lol. I'm not sure wht to do.....

The only logical way I can see is insure it, then drive the insured car to a pre booked MOT station. Then once It passes drive to the post office and tax it.

Congrats on passing your test.

dont think you need to be insured, well u do to drive it there, i never have to produce documents , just take it in say want an mot and bang its done.

you need to be insured. you can drive to the mot station un mot'd and untaxed if its prebooked. YOu can also drive it away from there if it fails to a place of repair.

If it passes the mot, legally you arent allowed to drive it unless it has tax... so strictly speaking you have to leave it there untill you have tax on it!

i'd agree with Pete although i've always driven away after a MOT but straight home again. I get my tax online so its sent to my house.

I dont take any documents when i take mine in. never have done and never needed them.

You need to be insured on the car/ someone out of your family to drive it on a public road.

You can drive it to the MOT test station if you've already booked it, if you get pulled the Police will ring them and confirm thats its been booked.

After that you cant really drive the car without tax, you'll have to leave it there and go to the PO, bring back the tax, put it on the vehicle and drive it home.

Hope that helps...

thanks alot lads!! Really cleared my head :D only other question woul be.... is it legal for a someone else that had insurance to drive the car? not for my car but their own, their insurance allows them to drive others?

no, the car that they are driving must be insured by someone for them to drive it as a 3rd party driver on their insurance.

congrats tho :)

passed the MOT. needed 2 new tires,,,(so they said) now i've found out i need the official insurance certificate to get it taxed. but when i got the insurance the dude say'd "thats you sorted, we'l just email you the documents" never said any thing about needing the official one to get it taxed. so the funs over for today, atleast i got to drive to and from the MOT :-D
