Had a play with some of my mates wheels after the east coast dubs meet last night. Suprisingly fit quite well. Will need some rear arch work, new tyres, spiggot rings and most of all a damn good clean.

But 15s, on a breadvan with a 60mm drop! Thought id struggle to get 14s on the back lol.

The only thing its fouling on the back is the handbrake cable on the drivers side. The passenger side one looks to be further inboard, but the drivers on seems to be sat on these wheels when i fit them. Anyone know if its safe to just cable tie (with some rather industrial sized cable ties, mind) the cable sleeve to the axle?

Thats the advice bit... now for the knowledge.

Can anyone tell me what wheels they are? I have no idea, neither does my mate who owns them. They have centre caps but dont think they have markings on there either. A few markings behind the spokes but no names or makes as far i could see. Will need to know to declare. And for personal interest of course.

I had Polo GTI wheels on my old black breadvan lowered 60mm and it was fine. Just make sure your axle is definitely central cause mine wasn't and it wore the inside of one of the tyres out!

I'm sure the wheels are Lenso, look really similar to the 17s my mate had on his Golf and I'm sure they were Lensos.

I've looked on the pas side now its light and that ones cabled tied so thats deff the solution. Will clamp them and strap them up when i get the wheels off next to do the arch lips.

Heartagram - how would i check to see if its central? Me and a few mates fitted the rear spring and shocks ourselves... tracking checks as fine on the back though iirc.

Lenso is a good call.

I'm now not sure if they are those lensos.

When we measured the centre bore for spigots yesterday, it came up as 62.2 on the vernier. Lenso say theyve only ever done 73.5 or something...

Gonna have to check the wheel again.

EDIT - rechecked. About 73mm but cant get a vernier in.

Anyone know exact lenso centre bore sizes?

Was working in a powdercoating unit today :)

The money earned from that is going on the tyres when i can get hold of the wheels (my mate who owns them is working a ten day cycle as of today).

Need to get hold of them, hopefully tonight to measure the centre bore again.

Then order spiggots.

Hopefully all being well ill get the car in the air this weekend and sort out the cables and arches ready for fitment once all the parts have arrived.

They are hidious wheels and on most cars they would look utter tat but I think they really suit your car. Does he have the caps or not? I think if you can get rid of the 'nut' in the middle they would look much better. Can't imagine they would be metal caps so probably be able to cut them out, plastic weld something else in and then just smooth and paint. In theory anyway

I was thinking of leaving them off as i quite like the look in the pics i posted. But thats a good idea actually.

Once I've got them fitted with spigots and tyres etc (most important part atm) then ill have a look at how they look without the caps, then with, and see how the caps are constructed.

Ill throw pics up with this of course.

Youve also made me think about trying to hold the fake bolts. Might spray them gloss black to match the rest of the inner wheel, try and hide them as much as poss. Or if i can get them out, even better.

Yeah I think painted would look good. If you just do them to match the rest of the wheel.

Could do the lips to match the colour of your car and the centre black. That would be pretty swish and easier to keep on top of than polished lips. Adds a little twist to from the usual black with polished lips.

Yeah i thought of doing the lips silver too. I'm working in a powdercoaters this week and theyve been doing these Alfa rims in a beautiful OEM silver. Very inspiring colour, though i dont think i can afford to get them to do the wheels for me (plus id like to do it myself :p).

I want to get it all up and running first though.

You never said how to check if my axle is centred? Any tips?
