you are comparing a 20+ yr old granny shopper made to be as cheap as possible that you have happend to put a fast engine in and a few extra pieces of metal against cars that are designed to be fast, comfortable, well balanced [which imo is EVERYTHING in a car] and good looking

People will actually hate you if you drive a metro? I find that hard to believe some how, I don't know anyone who could hate someone because of the car they drive.

I wouldn't feel like a idiot driving one either, some of my funniest passenger experiences have been in a diesel metro so a proper engine must be even better.

Talon Sports Cars have been building MGF/TF Metros for years,and plenty of others have built them too because the engine is a K-series and drops straight in post-91 Metros. But whilst that one only has 130bhp,its usually the 160bhp unit that gets fitted.

I bought a three year old Metro in '93 and it lasted nine months. Cant blame that on corrosion,its just that i wasn't prepared to fit a fourth engine and second rear subframe. It wasn't worth it because the most entertaining part of the thing was the way it sounded like a washing machine.

The way it ate CV joints quicker than brake pads was not so entertaining - and i had been warned not to get it,from other Metro owners,but i liked it at first.

So tempting as it should be to run a stripped,bike-carb'd Rover Metro,it just aint - even if i could find one with metal rear arches.

get a polo 16v and spend a bit of dosh on the engine would be nearly as fast with a bit of money spent I'm sure!

Sorry mate, that I'm only 18 and cant insure a newer car like yours or afford to buy one, for the moment i will make do with my 6n and my other cars... if I'm not entitled to an opinion about metro which i do not like at all (iv been in one many times and everything feel like it been bought from a pound shop and stuck in with pva glue)then whats the point of coming on a forum so people like you can point out that I dont drive an as "cool" car as yours!

at the end of the day if you want speed get a metro i dont care, but personally i wouldnt touch one and id much rather have the quality and comfort of a vw whether its a polo or passat or golf i dont mind. It funny how there a so many old vw's left i how i hardly ever see metros around?? wonder why?

Firstly i dont even own a 16v so i couldnt make this decision, secondly If you look back at my post did i even say that a 16v IS the fastest car on the road? have a look back mate i dont think i did did I??

At the end of the day mate dont get all sarcastic with me because i said I would prefer a polo, i mean i own one and 3 other vw's and we are on a polo forum! i dont like metros and i have never had any problems with any of the 6 vw's iv owned (except my mk4 golf) and i have had a bad experience of a metro so what do you want me to say, what would YOU prefer i said? I love metros get a metro? Would that make you happier?

People like you put me off forums, you just like to be a idiot by the look of it! read things propaly before you make assuptions!
