FOR SALE 1988 polo coupe S

Featured Replies

plus bessy wasnt a cat c - that pwns your value down to 1/3 of the actual sale value.

i was lucky to swap my mk2 coupe s for a series 1 mk1 golf gti, but it did have a hnr cup kit, g40 running gear and a smart stainless exhaust, it was also in visually better condition and wasnt a cat c.

I would have been lucky to have got 800 for it, and no way would i have got a grand, even with the subframe that was fitted to it.

realistically your cars worth 750 tops, if it wasnt a cat C. unfortunatly your looking at more like 500 with that fact.

not worth selling in all honesty if your thinking of using the money to replace with another car, just paint the wing and use it as a daily and save money towards another vehicle which you can have as a project.

And i also struggle to see where youve spent a grand, A hnr kit, pps subframe, some g-lader bushes and 2nd hand g40 track rod arms, track control arms and steering damper would give you change from 1000 and give you far far far superior handling to your coupe.

good luck with the sale, but it wont happen if your heads in the clouds...

here's how i spent £1085 on the new suspension

i spent about £500 at www.g-laderseite.de

PhilJ 80/60 kit £160

new VW g40 anti roll bar £60 + £30 for red plastic coat

£160 for for new nuts bolt bump stops etc from VW

£60 for new front wheel bearing from VW + £70 fitting

plus paint for the the refurb on the lower legs which was about £45

i thought it should be worth at lest a £1k with the new suspension etc

i've also got a new set of aero wipers for it

what do you think its worth ??

The cat C will put people off tbh, having to get the vehicle checked over beofre they can get a logbook.

I'd say £750 at the very very most.

On the upside, you brought the car on my 18th birthday :-)

a cat c is stupid effort! i managed to get one but didnt know when buying it!

before i got a log book i had to put it through a vehicle identity check (VIC) only like £70 but still hastle!

luckily i managed to flog it on sharpish! at a reduced mate!.

id perhaps put the suspension bac to standard and sell it all seperately!

I'm just trying to value it compared to mine! id value mine at 2k, but the wheels and interior are worth 1k alone. then whats left is substantually more than wots on urs dude!

i could get the test done but i don't want to spend money on the coupe at the moment as i want a new car

Yeh some personal advice from somebody who has bought n sold more polos than I can remember. All mrk2's. The car is worthless to buy whole tbh bud. Reason being . Can somebody turn up look at it and drive it away? Answer is no. U have to convince and annoy somebody and be best saleman in the world to have half a chance of selling this car whole for any money at all in this day and age and state of our economy right now. The £100 offer sounded fair to me. (please dont be offended, just giving u my own opinion bud however harsh it might sound coz its you are car) What people are seeing is a non running car. Doesnt matter whats fitted to it if its not ready to use on the road and get somebody mobile. Forget what you have spent on it and telling people how much. It puts people off. Start listing all the parts u fitted and price them down to half price (just a suggestion forpricing) you may get your 1200 or what ever you wanted, who knows. Good luck. The post already gone on quite long sounding more negative as it goes on. Make the list and stick it in the parts section bud.Hope u get you are £££££££££££'s for it.

The Mitch talks sense.

fisrt off the car is a runner and it driver very wall all it need is a vic test it just tack 1 month or 2 to get booked in for the test

its got a long mot just no tax so it can be driven

probably worth getting the vic test done before selling it.

only costs £30 i think

i wouldnt bother buying a polo thatneeded stuff like a vic check, to much hassel as most people who buy old polos just want a run about, and there are PLENTY out there to choose from

ok thanks

the car is now being striped for parts

so if there's any parts you want let me know

I'll give you £200 for the car with all the suspension still fitted to drive away

Let me know

cheers

its a shame to have to split a car like this! all that prob happened to it was a couple of damaged pannels that would cost us £30 to fix but to the insurance company £400!
