BBills New daily- MK4 Golf

Featured Replies

Well, collected today and enjoyed my first drive of a mk4, a 80mile trip back via the peak district :-D In lovely sun

Soon as i got home the car a good clean, interiour, outside, and a t-cut which has helped removed a fair few of the lighter marks and give it a nicer shine.

The car requires a fair bit of tlc & bits of bodywork, previous owners were on a farm down a beaten dirt track so its not been looked after greatly, saying that they rarely used it and only had it 9months.

Have reciepts etc hes kept giving it new cambelt, oil change, plugs, leads etc so thats gd, and copy of every MOT since 2002 so milage is 100% genuine.

Few pics of the cleaned car, good and bad bits

Worst areas-

Rear archs have some marks

And driver door is scratched on the corner- (managed to repair this abit with touchup and pull out)

Lights will be changed within the next week i should think, see if local scrappy has any tommorow.

Also going to get a few new bits of interiour trim, door handles worn ,small grey patchs.

Rear ash tray cover top is broken in half - UPDATE fixed

1.4 :lol::cry::lol:

Annoying having to have engine work done just after brought it but its ok as picked the car up for same price as a decent condition late 6n

Its almost embarasing but its quicker then my old mk3, alot more comftable and i feel better saying "its a 16v" without mentioning the actualy engine size

If insurance would let me i'd be dropping a 1.8T in insted.

Should get it bk today or tommorow from garage.

Also got some new lights to fit soon as its back, some gd ol GTI ones. These ones actually-

Just be awear the gearboxes in those are shocking mine went through 5 in just over 6 months. But youve prob heard that 1000 times. And those rear lights are a big improvement keep up the good work.

I've heared there like cheese (same as 6n then)

5 in 6 months, dude you must been doing something wrong far as i know this is on the original still with 79k on it.

Aunt and uncle both have mk4 1.4 and 1.6 (earlyer ones no newer then 2000) and both still fine on gearbox. (Had from new now on 150k!)

So I'm not gona worry too much :-p

If it goes..it goes

Turns out pistonrings were ok but every single valve was completly buggered!
