As the title says really peeps

My mates just bought an A4 avant estate with the 1.8t 20v block and was just wunderin if there are any common faults to look out for?

From my own experience with the S3, common problems include:

Coil pack failures,

MAF problems,

Diverter Valve issues.

Problems with coil packs are by far the most common fault with the 1.8T engine. Fairly cheap and easy to fix though.

The water pumps have plastic impellors (unless already changed) which have a habit of breaking up. can be changed for a metal one. best done at a cambelt change though
