Coz i have a shitty massive panel filter thing !!

And want rid of it, also looks shite !!

And do they do anything for proformance ?

Coz i heard induction kits do shit all !

Your question isn't stupid, but you really need to learn more about this kind of thing before you go modifying your engine. Don't take offense to this, but you sound like you're a bit clueless when it comes to engines, in which case it would be best if you left things alone 'proformance' wise.

But as Frybert said, it's a standard GT airbox which is part of a GT engine.

Not strictly true. We all start somewhere when it comes to finding out about anything in life. Even car engines. Your not born with the knowledge. A bit of research on here beforehand would have given the guy the answer though i am sure.

Back onto your car though. Looks awesome and bet it goes nicely too. My old mk2 coupe was soooo much better with the GT engine in. The engine cover is a nice touch as well. How do you go about attaching it in place? A lick of paint on the fan cowling and washing the plastics down and some stainless hose clips and the engine bay will look a million dollars

Cheers :) I mounted it using the brackets from the 6n it came from. These replace the standard engine lifting brackets, but the one on the right needs spacing with some nuts/washers.

I'm going to give the engine bay a good clean up over the next few months, just waiting for the clocks to go forward so that I've got enough daylight in the evenings to get some proper work done!

Little update today!

The 6n gear knob's gaiter is way too small for the mk3 polo, so I couldn't put it on. Today me and my mum made a temporary gaiter to fit the mk4 knob to see if it would fit - it works great! It's just made out of a gear gaiter at the moment, but will soon be black leather with red stitching, very 'GT'

I would imagine that is the calculated BHP at the flywheel

To be honest I'm not actually sure I expect it's flywheel.

I can make them for people - It'll be £20 per gaiter, only problem is I'll need your current gaiter to use as a template as mine is a bit odd (6n gearknob on a mk2f gear stick in a mk2!).

Here's a quick vid of what it sounds like driving it :)

I think it's probably time to finish the story of this superb little characterful car.

I hit ice on a country lane and slid about 30 meters down the road into a people carrier. I was only going around 25mph (confirmed by the person I hit and the person behind me), head smashed the windscreen, seat melted a strip in my jacket, cut my head right open but was ok apart from some bruised lungs which became pretty nasty and a bit of whiplash.

It's been a pretty difficult few months, lost my new job just after the crash - I asked to take half an hour off work to see a doctor a week after the crash and they disciplined me, said I was unprofessional and undedicated. I complained and they fired me without notice. Law doesn't help me as I'd only been there a week! Turned out I had bruised lungs from the crash which had become infected!

Fortunately I now have a much better job with a much nicer salary and I have started the second chapter of my VW story! It's a silver MKIV Golf GTI 1.8T with heated leather recaro interior. That's a car for a different forum though I think! :)

Drive your early polos carefully guys, because even at 25mph it can be pretty nasty; god knows what would happen if I was going quicker.
