Just won this beast on ebay for a steal.....

Mot'd 'till jan, no tax, a running issue (not a problem) and the owner has expressed that he would like to keep the hub caps lol

It will take a while to achieve what i think is achievable but i can safely say that it'll be like no other mk2 breadvan in the UK

I have seen a few polo's in my time but this is the first i have seen in that colour......has anyone else seen a polo in that colour, if so, what is it called??

Thanks for looking

Gregg

I have never seen that colour before, it was proberly the colour which made it so cheap haha

Thats an early mk2 colour normally found on mk2 GL's. Its a very early pearl which appears brown from a distance, but from certain angles it has a purple appearence.

Pete G40 has a mk2 saloon in that colour and iirc Spen had one at some point as well.

Getting your brown wings

got them years ago mate 8-)

You will get a brown dash and rusty brown carpet thats for sure. Blackberry.... something springs to mind for the name of the colour.

pete will know the colour name although I've heard him refer to it as turd brown.

I've heard him refer to it as turd brown.

is that the official name for it?

are we allowed to know any of the details of this project? or is it top secret? :paranoid:

That is possibly the coolest colour for a polo i have seen! I want mine that colour!

Has it got the chrome waist band or is that a white sticker? Can't tell from the pics. I remember seeing an Y reg one (I think it was Y reg at least ) same colour breadvan with a chrome waist band on it, looked cool.

Either way, can't wait to see what you do with it, lol.

What engine has it got? the early 1093cc i would guess?? My old CX was an A reg!

blackberry metallic but in germany something like braubeer

That's a find! Good metal that year, bet its well solid.

Isn't that a Formel-E badge on the tailgate? :) Wouldn't that give it a high compression 1.3,economy gauge and long final drive? Because that'd be a bonus for the project in my view

it is a 1.05, it has the ecometer and is a formel e.

project wise, all i'm going to say so far is that i think i'm going to need a stock pile of gearbox's and it is not going to be as quick as the beige beast was

Blackberry is it??? Thanks guys :-)

i think i know where your going with this 8-)

Yep, the formel E models had the 1.1 engine.

Sounds like you are going G60 or turbo derv then Greg :)

sod it, i may as well say......She'll be running a 1W (1.4 diesel engine that was fitted to mk3 polo's in the german market) with a brand new garrett GT17 turbo (from a saab that runs 120bhp) supplying boost 8-)

My aim is for fairly high mpg as it will be used as a work commute car for myself......i have a vento on gaz coilovers for nights out etc and a 'stripped out 90 spec white mk2 golf gti with a chipped abf (mk3 golf 16v engine) on mk3 running gear and electrics for weekend fun/track days as and when i get a roll cage made for her

Sounds interesting.

You should be all right with the 1W in the mk2. Reason why the UK never got the mk3 polo version was that the diesel injection pump and ancillaries fouled the RHD mk3 brake servo.

i've already modified the fuel pump for boost enrichment so it'll be a case of throwing the engine in and running it n/a for a while and then working out rad and intercooler position etc etc

I presume you have seen this?

Mk3 1W turbo'd Heck

Might make things a bit easier.

cheers for that.....

A few things i'll be doing differently to him......i'll be using an intercooler and a dump valve (you can get kits for cars with no thottle butterflies)....it seems to do 0-60 in around 8 seconds which isn't bad at all really

Dump valves decrease the performance of all cars, and are fitted to offer protection for the turbo, but a diesel will not surge when the throttle is shut, so you are decreasing the performance for no gain??? I dont get it. And how would it work as there is no vacuum?

So I'm assuming you can turbo these on the standard compression ratio? and fit a pump off the turbo golf engine for the correct fuelling?
