looking good man!! can't wait to see this, its the same colour as my gt :)

Looking good. That aint powder coating if thats what you asked for. You can see the overspray from the solvent based paint with the gearbox sat on the cardboard. Its even all over the rubber end plate gasket on the gearbox too!

The gearbox has just been painted...

Yeah the gerabox has been painted as phil has said, its only a temporary gearbox anyway, but the atv will be done in the same colour.

Thanks for the positive feedback

I'm in the process of re-furbing the atiwee's to go on the car.

Never done a set before and I've got the first wheel done.

I did the 1st step of sanding them down completely

Then i did several layers of filler primer to smooth away any rough surfaces

DSCN1879.jpg

Then i flatted down the filler primer layer to 1500 grit with micromesh

Next i did several layers of grey primer

Then i flatted it down again with 1500 grit micromesh

DSCN1880.jpg

I then did several layers of supposed 'nimbus grey' (halfords colour match  ) I actually like the colour its came out as, so I'm calling it nimbus blue.

Then i did the centre - front and rear, in royal blue mettalic to match the car (The masking took forver!)

Then the whole front was flatted down with 1500 grit micromesh then 3200 grit micromesh

Then i did around 8 layers of halfords general purpose laquer for a harder finish.

The rest of the wheel is finished in matt black because it saved time.

This is what it came out like, I'm pretty pleased with it considering it was done with rattle cans

I've never yet got to a point where a car has not been classed as a project, will you have the wheels on for edition?

Found out the car is using girling 54 calipers (mk2 16v), not sure on what carriers tho as its still got 239 discs

They could be early VWII Golf GTI item but I'm not sure, they are vented so don't worry about stopping power, they were probably fitted so that the Awites clear the brakes without the use of spacers.

I bought the atiwee's the car came on standard ra's. I still need 7mm spacers to clear the brakes and have had to file the end of the calipers aswell. I need pads for them, thats why i need to find out what they are.
