Its looking like the first real drive will be to edition and you'll be driving the lupo . Cant get shotgun then!

Plus adele said it first anyway :p

They are the type of calipers used for 256mm brake conversion. Check the dia of the discs on and see if they should be 256mm.

The discs on are 239mm, thats what had me confused, they fit fine with the golf calipers.

Will 256mm discs fit, then ?

some early audis had 239 discs with carriers with 76mm bolt spacing and girling calipers

Its looking like a car agen now, although its still rocking some golf steels.

Few more stuff to do in the engine bay, got to get a new filter and heatshield, get some new brake pads and got to straighten the cooler but its getting there.

Almost finished the wheels aswell, they will probably split opinion but i love them.

They could be early VWII Golf GTI item but I'm not sure, they are vented so don't worry about stopping power, they were probably fitted so that the Awites clear the brakes without the use of spacers.

I bought the atiwee's the car came on standard ra's. I still need 7mm spacers to clear the brakes and have had to file the end of the calipers aswell. I need pads for them, thats why i need to find out what they are.

they are early vw 11 calipers i referbed a set for my golf mk1 they do benifit greatly from a referb and new seals just make shure you get the wright pads as they came in two thicknesses vented non vented your current disks are vented put most people after brake convertions sand pads to make them fit this is not adviseable as you could wear new disks faster if the finish is to course and may not get even pad wear just ckeck the offset on the disk are correct to the callipers and not manufacturers standard offset

They are girling 54 callipers, form a mk2 16v golf, got some pads for them the other day. They are not the type youve mentioned, not from my reaserch anyway. But thanks for your input

Cars almost ready, failed its mot on stupid things. But will be getting a re-test soon.

Looks horrible on the steels but they were a cheap fix instead of new tyres.

PhilJ got if for me, was from either ebay or germany, cant remeber. No, the front beam has been cut for it to fit, just fits side to side tho.

ooo, do you feel it makes a difference? did you use most of the oe pipe work?

Havtn used it yet! I couldnt tell you if the cooler alone makes a difference, caus I've had everything done at once. Just the top black section with the isv is standard

Done some work on the g40 while I've been off for xmas.

Fitted a new steering wheel, its older than the car, a genuine astralli wheel from the 70's

Its much smaller than the original making parking a bit harder

Also found this at a scrapyard, it was on a mk3, a corrado steering wheel

As most mk3 owners know the heater controls normally only work on the 3rd speed. Its a simple fix of trial and error with another unit. Its a small white block, i think its a type of resistor, just disconnect the wiring and take out 4 screws and put it back together with a replacement.

I got lucky and the 1st one works perfectly and i get all 3 heater speeds working :)

This is what it looks like:

It sits on the side of the heater unit here:

I also had some trouble with the slimline fan from ebay. It was plastic and from vibration its snapped its mount and fell off the car while it was spinning. I was sat in the car and saw the fan blades shoot from under the bonnet! :|

I went down the scrapyard with a rough idea of size and found a suitable replacement form a 106 diesel. Its bigger and quieter than the original aswell. I had some trouble with the fan cover as it was obviously not designed for a polo with a supercharger!

I had to turn in 90 degrees so it was vertical and mark off potential points to mount it. I went for the top of the rad as it has spare metal and the bottom chassis panel.

Took me a few hours of fiddling, cutting, swearing and a burnt finger from the soldering iron!

Ended up like this:
